4 THe ideal solution For : retail shops, supermarkets, and WareHouses retail shops When there is a need to monitor and video-record only a few areas: typically the main entrance, the goods display area, and the till area. an effective solution is provided by the CCTV kits, expandable to up to 4 cameras: simple and unobtrusive, thanks to their compact size, and with the possibility of providing remote viewing. supermarkets This type of establishment has the need to monitor and video-record many small and large areas, both indoors and outdoors. The typical outdoor requirements are: monitoring of the goods loading/unloading area, the sides of the building and the car parks. The internal areas are: goods warehouse and loading / unloading area. The solution is a dedicated project where all devices are controlled and monitored from a local switchboard or reception, manned by an operator during the daytime. Wherever necessary, it is possible to centralise the remote management of several sites. 3

6 CHoosing THe right devices Cameras, dvr and monitors When installing a simple video surveillance CCTV system, it is advisable to follow the four stages described below. if the installation needs to comply with higher security requirements, please contact the Legrand technical sales representative. STEP 1 DEFINITION OF THE NUMBER OF AREAS TO MONITOR Perform a survey, together with your customer, using a map of the area to monitor. STEP 2 DEFINITION OF THE RESULTS EXPECTED FOR EACH AREA TO MONITOR For each area to monitor, decide with the customer the expected result. in most cases, it will be one of the following: identification, recognition, detection of an intruder. For a description of the expected results, please refer to the EN standard, an extract of which is provided below: The dimensions of an object / subject on the monitor should be suitable for the duty to be performed by the operator, for example, identification (facial identification), recognition (full length identification), or monitoring (general view). if the subject is an individual and the CCTV system has an actual limit resolution exceeding 400 television lines, the minimum dimensions for this subject are: a) for identification (facial identification) purposes, the subject should represent no less than 120% of the height of the screen. b) for recognition (full length) purposes, the subject should represent no less than 50% of the height of the image. c) for the monitoring (general view), the subject should represent no less than 10% of the height of the image. 120% 10% Identification Detection of an intruder 50% Recognition 100% 4 The figure above provides an indication of the relative sizes of a person (subject) on the screen.

7 STEP 3 DEFINITION OF THE NUMBER OF CAMERAS AND THEIR POSITION: The quantity of the expected results determines the number of cameras needed. For each camera, the most suitable installation position must be identified based on the following parametres: the sizes of the objects to be framed (expected results), the distances between them, and the camera installation requirements (indoor/ outdoor, wall-mounting/ceiling/ flush-mounting, etc.). Make sure that the cameras are used in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, both in terms of privacy and staff safety.! WARNING: Footage, sound, voices, and names are personal data - and can sometimes be sensitive - they may also be protected by copyright or other third-party intellectual property rights. Therefore, anyone using the devices is bound to the following: - utmost compliance with the Code on the protection of personal data; - the obligations established in terms of data safety; - respect of image and portraiture rights, as well as all requirements in terms of copyright and intellectual and industrial property. Legrand shall not be held liable for the illegal use of its devices by their customers. STEP 4 SELECTION OF THE MOST SUITABLE DEVICES IN VIEW OF THE EXPECTED RESULTS : It is now possible to identify the products needed for the completion of the system: cameras, video recorders, monitors, accessories. CAMERAS: once all the information from the previous stage has been collected, it is possible to identify the most suitable compact cameras by using the simple user tables available for this product family. DVRs: to be selected based on the number of cameras to connect and the accessory features provided. MONITORS: to be selected based on the display dimensions and the available space. If compact cameras cannot be used due to the requirements of certain applications, highperformance modular cameras are also available. For each of them, the most suitable accessories may be selected (e.g. brackets, housing, IR illuminators, lenses). 5

9 Safety of property Access monitoring Event monitoring Allows an area to be open to the public while protecting against shrinkage in a shop or against theft in a car park or enclosure. CCTV plays its part by providing live or time-shifted (when recorded) monitoring of one or more zones of the building. Enclosure, Car Park, Sales Floor, etc. Monitoring accesses to buildings or premises outside attendance hours not only enables any unauthorised presence to be detected, but also allows any type of incident or malicious act to be retraced. When the building is in use, CCTV can help manage access opening by detecting the presence of a person near an exit or by linking it to visitor access control. Recording entries into a building When it is linked to other systems installed in a building or on premises, CCTV can display images from a chosen camera associated with the event on a control screen. Intrusion: instant removal of doubt and recording upon intrusion detection Fire: verification of presence of fire in the detection zone Technical alarm: removal of doubt of a technical problem with machinery Viewing Recording Analysing The primary function of a camera is to provide live viewing of a scene. For example, it may be advantageous to show customers in a shop that the premises are being monitored by CCTV by prominently displaying images on a monitor linked directly to a camera. In addition to its deterrent effect, it also allows shop assistants to see one or more scenes from a single point in the shop. Viewing can also be done live from a remote location on a Smartphone or computer. This enables to remove any doubts. Depending on how critical the scene (or type of building zone) to be viewed is, it may be desirable to provide recording as well. This allows past events to be replayed for better incident interpretation (shoplifting). -> Take care not to fall into the trap of wanting to record everything because, apart from (relatively) fast saturation of the hard disk, searching for a risk event can become impractical. Event recording is advised where possible. For example, in addition to recordings covering scheduled times as a minimum, they could also cover location accesses. Whether it be to access a camera feed of one or more recorders or to access the recordings of these recorders, it is possible to install dedicated CCTV monitoring software on one or more stations (e.g. control station, police station, etc.). 7

10 KeY ProduCTs in a CCTV system Viewing given that the View function is provided by the cameras, it is important to carefully select a suitable one by taking the following into account: The installation environment: Watertight products (ip 55 or ip 66) can be installed outdoors. if there is a risk of damage, products should be vandal-proof (ik 10). Compact or camera bodies can be seen whereas dome, mini or hidden cameras provide discreet monitoring. The scene to be filmed: How far is the scene to be filmed from the location where i can install a camera? What are the dimensions of the scene to be filmed? is it a precise dimension (door or entrance)? adjustable or fixed focal length. is it of variable dimensions (wide angle and close-up)? power zoom or high resolution camera (megapixels). is it wider than the camera's field of view? motorised dome camera examples Cat.No Cat.No Cat.No

11 Installation recommendations Install the shooting units (cameras) at a height ranging between 3 and 4 metres. The camera's support (bracket, housing, etc.) must ensure electrical insulation from the ground (to avoid ground loops). The cameras' power supply connection must be done by strictly observing the phase and the neutral, since cameras in alternating current supply (230 Vac) use the network's 50 Hz for synchronization: if all the cameras have been connected correctly, they are also synchronized. The performance of illumination systems strongly depends on the type of surfaces lighted (reflection factor) and on the spectrum of the light generated. In choosing the type of camera, take into account that colour cameras require 10 times more light than black and white cameras. The amount of light on the scene to be viewed must be almost 10 times the minimum amount of light required by the camera. The reference parameter for correctly choosing the camera according to the present light is the 'camera sensitivity'. The following table indicates some brightness values pertaining to specific conditions. Correct positioning of the camera: the image remains clear and sharp irrespective of the position of the sun. Incorrect positioning of the camera: if there is an intensely luminous source in the field of view of the image, it would be better to adjust the aim of the camera so as to eliminate the light source from the field of view. 9

12 KeY ProduCTs in a CCTV system recording since all of the installations cannot be monitored all of the time, scenes need to be recorded and stored for later access. digital recorders round off a camera installation and should be chosen according to the following criteria: The number of cameras whose output is to be recorded determines the type and number of recorders. However, in cases where the number of cameras to install is likely to increase, it is advisable to cater for a higher capacity by selecting a recorder with a higher input capacity. Where the total number of cameras is higher than or equal to the capacity of a 16 (analog or ip) camera recorder, one (or more) centralised management points is/are still possible as long as the recorders are connected to the same (local or remote) network. Type of recording Whether recording is constant or event-based, the length of time the data is kept and the quality of the images all determine the size of the storage media (hard disk). some recorders also have the facility to add more hard disks, while others do not. The location of the recorder is an important factor to consider because, depending on whether it needs to be accessed to use the front-facing controls or conversely, whether it can be housed in a computer cabinet or enclosure, checks must be carried out to determine if it is possible to install it directly into a rack or not. 4 channel recorder tcat.no channel recorder Cat.No

Recorded: the image is stored by the recorder for on-demand viewing. it is nevertheless possible to combine both modes of use, i.e when recording a scene, it can also be viewed on a monitor. Locally: The monitor is connected directly either to the camera or the recorder. Remotely: analysis is done over the internet via a PC or smartphone. 14 KEY PRODUCTS IN A CCTV SYSTEM Transmitting and connecting This function provides the link between the above functions and a choice must be made as to whether the installation type is to be analog or IP: Analog camera video can be transmitted: - Over coaxial cable: This is easy to implement and does not require any additional products or programming. The length of each link is limited to 300 m. - Over twisted pair (FTP): This can be incorporated in structured cabling and can be upgraded to an all-ip solution. This then calls for transmitters and receivers (baluns) at each end of the link. By using amplified transmitters and receivers, the length of the link can be up to 1200 m. Power supply to these units is generally 12V= and can be provided: - By an independent supply for each camera located close-by. - By one centralised supply for several cameras. The connection to the above can be via mixed cables incorporating the coaxial cable and 2 power supply wires. Choosing twisted pair (PoA) to supply power to the analog cameras provides an upgrade path to an IP or PoE solution when connected to the same network (local or remote). IP camera video can be transmitted: - Over twisted pair (FTP): providing an upgrade path for more cameras so long as the IP installation has been correctly dimensioned. - Power supply to these units is generally 12V= and can be provided: By an independent supply for each camera located close-by. By one centralised supply for several cameras. The connection to the above can be via mixed cables incorporating the coaxial cable and 2 power supply wires. By the network if it is PoE (Power over Ethernet) capable. 12

15 GLOSSARY Compact or All-in-One: Camera supplied with lens and mechanism already fitted. The mechanism format provides for fixing to a wall and is generally equipped with a cover to protect it from water ingress when it is raining. Camera body: Camera supplied without lens to allow a suitable lens to be fitted. Dome: Camera supplied with lens and mechanism already fitted. The mechanism format provides for fixing to the ceiling or suspended installation on an arm; the translucent dome hides the camera angle. Mini camera: The camera is supplied complete with lens and is easily concealed due to its small size. Focal length: This refers directly to the visual angle, and is measured in millimetres. Short focal lengths provide wide shooting angles, while long focal lengths provide telephoto lens functions with narrow viewing angles. Fixed focus: Lenses with fixed focal lengths and camera angles. Varifocal: Lens that allows for manual variation of the focal length. These lenses are designed to be lightweight and small, and to be used in a wide range ofsituations. For example, if the use of a 6 mm lens is required, a mm varifocal lens with a fixed adjustment to 6 mm may be used. Zoom: Lens that allows changing the physical characteristics of the lens s focal length to cover a wide range. These lenses are classified according to their multiplication factor (x 6, x 10, etc.), and manual or motorised versions are available in the market. Resolution: The resolution indicates the quality of the reproduced image. The quality of the image captured by the camera is defined by the number of vertical lines. Current industry standards in regards to the resolution of CCTV cameras are 330 lines for colour cameras, and 380 lines for black/white cameras. The quantity of lines that a camera must produce to be defined as a high-resolution camera is not defined in any standard. According to contemporary manufacturing standards, a high-resolution colour camera usually provides more than 420 lines, while a black/white highdefinition camera produces more than 480 lines. PoE/ Power over Ethernet: Provides electrical supply to an IP camera via the network cable. Requires the installation of a PoE injector as a power supply. PoA/ Power Over Analog: Provides electrical supply to an analog camera via a twisted pair-type cable. Requires the installation of Baluns at the camera. Image quality: An image is determined by its resolution; there are 6 formats (the data in brackets are in pixels): QCIF (176 x 144) CIF (352 x 288) 2CIF (704 x 288) 4CIF (704 x 576) HalfD1/HD1 (360 x 576) D1/fullD1 (720 x 576) HD 720 (1280 x 720) HD 1080 (1920 x 1080) QCIF CIF 4CIF HD 720 HD 1080 Recording quality: The quality of a recording depends on the resolution of the image recorded and the number of images contained in 1 second of recording. Types of screen connection: The maximum resolution varies with the type of connection. Coaxial: 720 x 576, VGA: 1024 x 768, HDMI: 1920 x 1080 Sensitivity: Refers to the ability of a camera to reproduce a video signal with a particular luminance value, which is the minimum amount of light (measured in lux) required to obtain a video signal. The greater the sensitivity of the camera, the smaller the amount of light required to obtain a video signal. It is clear that when a camera has a greater sensitivity, less light is needed to obtain a good video image. Care should be taken not to confuse the minimum amount of light required (sensitivity) with the ambient lighting. Both are measured in lux, but the amount of light detected by a camera is reflected from objects, and not from ambient lighting. Speed dome: Motorised camera capable of extremely fast movements. It can change positions in a very short amount of time and follow the movement of any object/subject. Simple automatic path: the motorised camera moves automatically, following a programmable path that is repeated at cyclical intervals. The movement follows linear paths between preset intermediate points. Advanced automatic path: function similar to the previous one, but the movement follows a path that can be programmed in any direction. For example, it may be programmed by recording a manually controlled path from the control station. 13
