1 FOUR DESIGNS COMPANY NE 22nd Ave. RIDGEFIELD, WA TOLL FREE ORDER LINE TECH LINE FAX POLAROID 110AlB PROFESSSIONAL PACK FILM CAMERAS Polaroid film has proven to be an indispensable tool for testing exposure and lighting when using electronic flash, mixed light sources, filtration and multiple exposure. This is why most larger format professional camera, systems include Polaroid capability (usually an interchangeable instant film holder). When the camera system in use does not allow interchangeable Polaroid film holders or when a full sized instant print is desired, the models 11 OAiB cameras with high quality optics and adjustable shutter/aperture controls will prove to be the best choice. Exposure testing is but one facet of the 11 OAiB camera's full potential. High quality instant photographs are also used as a final product. A Polaroid print is essentially a contact print from a large negative. Since there is no light scatter in the postive emulsion during printing, image resolution is very high. Some examples of Polaroid prints as final products: "old-time" photos, night club & convention souvenirs, photo buttons, etc. The very useful pos/neg (665) film produces negatives comparable in grain and resolution to plus-x pan and yields impressive 20 x 24 enlargements. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Polaroid's models 11 OA and 1108 cameras were manufactured in the-1960's to professional quality standards. They include such features as Rodenstock or Enna Werke 4 element Tessar formula coated lenses (127 mm f ) in Prontor SVS shutters (1sec. -1/300 sec. with X & M sync). The coupled range finder and parallax corrected viewfinder used in these cameras are easy to use and very accurate. The conveniently layed out controls and features are integrated into a compact folding design. These cameras were originally designed for use with Polaroid's roll-type films. FOUR DESIGNS CO. expertly converts and fully refurbishes these models, including new bellows, to use the 31/4" x 41/4" pack film. The high quality features built into these cameras coupled with the pack film conversion yields a professional tool with many uses and extraordinary results, and results are what these cameras are all about. Polaroid's 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" pack films have an actual image area of 27/8" x 33/4". There are over thirteen emulsion types available in this format.

5 FOCUS THE CAMERA: Your camera has a coupled rangefinder that lets you focus accurately on any subject from 3!h feet to miles away. The rangefinder window is the one on the right as you look at the back of the camera. inder windo w, I RanlefinoJer windo w. look Ihrou2h this when look throurh this to you take the pictu re. tocu s the camera. AIM THROUGH THE VIEWFINDER WINDOW: Now that you have focused the camera, just move your eye over to the viewfinder w indow, and you're ready to take the picture. The'viewfinder optical system automatically corrects for parallax when you focus the camera, which means that you Simply can't cut oif heads or aim the camera inaccurately. Whatever you see through the viewfinder, you' ll actually get in the picture. (On long-distance shots you'll actually get a little more in the J?ictu re than t he viewfinder shows.) Look through the rangefinder window at the principal part of the scene - the part you want to be absolutely needle sharp. If you're photographing a person, it's usually best to "range" on the nose or ears. As you turn the focusing knob on the bed of the cam e ra, you w ill see a triangular-shaped second image move back and forth across the m ain image. When the two coincide exactly for the subject you are ranging on, the camera is sharply focused for that subject MODELS RANGE/VIEWFINDER NOT IN FOCUS IN FOCUS 110A MODELS RANGEFINDER, VIEWFINDER Focusing: Try aiming the camera at a person, centering the yellow spot on the nose or eyes. You will see a double image within the yellow spot. Turn the focusing knob until the two images blend into one sharp image. When they coincide exactly, the camera will be in focus. Not In Focus Aiming: When you turn the focusing knob, note that the viewfinder field defined by the yellow lines becomes larger or smaller, and shifts position slightly, The closer the subject. the less area there will be inride the lines. The viewfinder optical system automatically corrects for parallax and field size when you focus the camera. This means the area within the yellow lines will always show exactly what will appear in the finished print. You should always frame your subject within these lines. In Focus And Centered
6 The Shutter Release The Pathfinder shutter must be cocked before a picture can be taken. With the camera facing you, push the cocking lever (A) as far to your left as it will go. The shutter is now cocked. Hold the camera firmly against your face (just as you did above when focusing), and press gently on the shutter release (B). A light pressure is all that is needed to release the shutter. Don 't punch ituse a steady squeezing pressure to avoid camera motion. Practice cocking and releasing the shutter several times - it will pay dividends in sharp pictures. EV Interlock: The shutter provides a colwenient locking lever that ties shutter and lens controls together for any particular EV number. Here's how to use it: set the EV pointer to the number indicated by the meter. T hen push in on the locking lever (A) ar.d move it upward to the solid black circle. Aperture and shutter are now locked together. You can now turn the shutter speed control ring as far as it will go in either direction and still preserve the same EV setting. This will help you choose between faster shutter speeds and smaller apertures for any given EV number. Release the lock to reset to another EV number. Gauging Depth-of-Field: When you ha"e focused your camera, the ar.row on the focusing scale in the camera bed (B) will point to the distance from lens to subject. The.. guides on either side of the arrow indicate depth-of-field at apertures of f/ 16 and f/ 32. For example, with the camera focused at 6 feet with an aperture of f/ 32, the depth-of-field is from 472 to 10 feet from the lens. USING THE SELF-TIMER Your shutter has a built-in 10-second delay timer which lets you get into the picture yourself after you have tripped the shutter release.. To use it, cock the shutter, move the flash synchronization lever (B) to ' 'V", then press the shutter release. The shutter will buzz for about 10 seconds, then trip.
