2 Why do we need Internet? Internet and it s uses: Internet helps us to share information from any place in the world. Internet is a source of lot of information for education purposes. Internet enables fast transfer of news or incidents to people. Internet can be used for communication from end of the world to the other. Information, knowledge, and learning.... Connectivity, communication, and sharing.... Address, mapping, and contact information.... Banking, bills, and shopping.... Selling and making money.... Collaboration, work from home, and access to a global workforce.

3 What is Wifi exactly A facility allowing computers, smartphones, or other devices to connect to the Internet or communicate with one another wirelessly within a particular area. A WiFi hotspot is created by installing an access point to an internet connection. The access point transmits a wireless signal over a short distance. It typically covers around 300 feet. When a WiFi enabled device such as a Pocket PC encounters a hotspot, the device can then connect to that network wirelessly. While wireless LANs refer to any local area network (LAN) that a mobile user can connect to through a wireless (radio) connection; Wi-Fi (short for "wireless fidelity") is a term for certain types of WLANs Your computer/cellphone/any other WiFi device connects through WiFi to the router. Without the router with the wired connection you'll have no internet. You can't have the internet "built in" a device because the internet is basically a huge network of computers.

4 What s the difference between Airtime, Mobile Data & Wifi? Many cell phone plans are based on the number of airtime minutes & text messages that can be used each month. Pay-As-You-Go plans, for example, allows cellphone owners to pay in advance for talk time, and add more airtime as needed, by day, week or month. You can now also purchase data from your provider (Cell C, Vodacom, MTN) for accessing the internet when you are nowhere near your router or a Wifi signal Both Wi-Fi and mobile data do essentially the same thing, and work together to let you access the internet, anytime, anywhere.... The advantage is that, while Wi-Fi only works within the range of a router, with your data plan, you can access the internet on anywhere within range of a network signal.

5 What s the big deal? Most of you will have a router at home and your internet service provider will be Telkom. You now no longer need a contract with Telkom and can therefore save that monthly cost. Your mobile data charges with Vodacom, MTN and Cell C can also be reduced as you can now use the Belvidere Wi-fi when you are in the park You will no longer run out of data at the park You can connect your smart TV to the new Wi-fi and make use of Apps only accessible via the internet connection like Netflix This means you could almost argue that you don t need your DSTV connection anymore; again saving cost The connection speed 6 Meg line speed per user If you currently have an address ending in [name].telkomsa.net you may consider moving over to a Gmail address when you cancel your ADSL account. Alternatively you will keep your address for +/- R15 pm to your existing server Allow 1 month of use before cancelling any contracts or accounts with Telkom or other The future will allow a reduction in internal phone costs within the park There will be a fair usage policy

6 How do I connect? Touch Apps. Scroll to and touch Settings. Touch Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is off, touch the Wi-Fi slider to turn it on. Touch the Wi-Fi network you want to use. Enter the network password. Touch CONNECT. The phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network.

8 How do I get my phone to automatically connect? Android phone Open your device's Settings app or menu. Locate and tap Network & internet Wi-Fi. Tap into Wi-Fi & Wi-Fi preferences. Tap an option. These vary by device and Android version. Turn on Wi-Fi automatically. Have Wi-Fi automatically turn on near saved networks. iphone Tap Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap next to the network name. Make sure that Auto-Join is on.

The term "app" is a shortening of the term "software application". 2 - App store or Play Store - Apps that are not preinstalled are usually available through distribution platforms called app stores. They began appearing in 2008 and are typically operated by the owner of the mobile operating system, such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store, and BlackBerry App World. Some apps are free, while others must be bought.

13 How do I know it has been received? WhatsApp uses a delivery and read receipt system. Whenever you send a message you'll see a number of tick marks next to your message. A single grey tick means that the message was successfully sent by the WhatsApp servers. Two grey ticks mean that the message was successfully delivered to the recipient's device. Two blue / green ticks mean that the recipient has actually read your message. NOTE: In a group chat scenario, you will only see two grey ticks when your message has been delivered to everyone in the group. Similarly, everyone in the group will need to have read it for you to see two blue ticks

14 How do I make a *FREE call on WhatsApp? You just need internet access; either mobile data or a WIFI connection *When we say FREE, we mean that you are not charged by your cell phone provider per minute or second for the call. You are using data (the internet) instead of airtime

15 This makes using WhatsApp calling a great alternative to making expensive phone calls abroad and also handy if you're in an area of poor mobile reception.

18 What can I send on WhatsApp? WhatsApp can send more than just text-based messages. You're also able to easily send photographs, videos, voice messages, Contacts and location details through the app.

19 A photo, video, contact or your physical location Sending location information is particularly useful if you ever need to meet friends and want to give them your precise location based on GPS. The recipient can then open this through whatever map app they use, such as Google Maps or Apple Maps

22 WhatsApp Frequently Asked Questions How do I download WhatsApp? WhatsApp is available on ios, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia devices and the app is now available to download for free from their respective app stores. In the past, some versions of WhatsApp had a charge but that has recently been removed, so it's now available completely free on all platforms. As WhatsApp is a cross-platform service, all versions of WhatsApp can send messages between one another. There aren't any charges to send messages as WhatsApp uses your mobile data or internet connection.

23 How do I register for WhatsApp? WhatsApp is registered to your mobile telephone number. When you first open the app you'll be asked to provide your phone number, after which an SMS verification code will then be sent. Enter this into WhatsApp and you're good to go. Anyone you know who uses WhatsApp and has you in their Contacts list will see that the number is registered with WhatsApp and can then contact you via the service. That's the genius of WhatsApp, it takes the telephone contacts you've had for years and uses them as a basis for an online messaging service.

24 Can I have group chats in WhatsApp? Yes, you're able to create group chats with up to a staggering 256 people all at once. Managing a conversation with that many people messaging simultaneously can be tricky but it's great for sending out a party invite, for example. There's also no limit to the number of group chats you can be a participant in. Every group chat will have at least one admin, and only they will be able to invite or remove participants. Everyone is free to leave a group chat whenever they wish. If the admin leaves the group, a new admin is randomly assigned from those who remain.

25 Are messages sent through WhatsApp secure? The latest version of WhatsApp has been updated to support end-to-end encryption for all messages and data sent on the platform. What this means is that only you and the recipient ever sees the content of your communications. Not even WhatsApp has visibility. Only the sender and recipient have the unique encryption key to view data and messages. You're able to verify that messages are encrypted by tapping the name of the contact or group to open the info screen.
