2 2. Launching the Push To Talk Application Prior to using Push To Talk, you must: a) accept the license agreement; b) activate the service. You will then have the option (c) to use the in-application tutorial to familiarize yourself with Enhanced Push To Talk. From the handset s Home screen, select the Push To Talk icon and launch the application. You will see the following PTT menu icons: Top navigation bar: Bottom action bar (on home screen) 3. Creating Push to Talk (PTT) Contacts The PTT contacts directory is separate from the phone s native contacts directory. There are two ways to add PTT contacts: Manual Entry contacts can be imported from the phone s native contact list or manually entered into the Enhanced PTT application. Some phones may not have this ability if the corporate administrator has restricted manual contact entry. Administrator-Managed Contacts A corporate administrator can add PTT contacts directly into all of a corporation s PTT phones. Contacts added by a corporate administrator cannot be deleted or changed. The following instructions illustrate how to add contacts manually. a. From the Contacts Screen i. Press the menu button at the bottom of the phone and choose Add Contact from the menu. ii. Select Native Phonebook or Manual Input. iii. To import from the Native Phonebook, simply select a single contact and then select Save. iv. To enter a contact manually, type the contact s name and phone number, and then select Save. You can also assign your 2
3 contact an avatar, a unique color, and set them as a favorite. Once you save a contact s information, it will appear in the PTT contact list. b. From the Home Screen: i. From the bottom of the menu screen, select the + icon and then select New PTT Contact. From this step, you will be prompted to follow the same instructions as if you were entering a contact from the Contacts screen (Steps a.ii-iv). 4. Creating PTT Groups Groups can be created manually or pushed to the phone by the corporate administrator. Groups added by a corporate administrator cannot be deleted or changed. The following steps illustrate how to create a group manually. a. Go to the Groups screen and press the Menu key on the handset. Then select New Group. b. The New Group screen will appear to let you input group information. Enter the group name, scroll down to select members to be added to the group, and press Add. You can also select an optional picture or color for the group. c. When done, tap the Save button to create the group. 5. Making PTT Calls to Individuals & Groups a. Making a PTT Call to an Individual i. Go to the Contacts screen and touch the contact you want to call. ii. An on-screen PTT call button will appear. iii.
