1 IT Professional Fact Sheet Overview: The IT Professional Series program covers courses on Microsoft software used by enterprise employees working to plan, design, implement, and administer the software infrastructure businesses use to run their network, websites, e-commerce sites, databases, , intranet, and firewall. Job titles for these courses are: support technician, network administrator, network engineer, and database administrator. Software covered in the ITPro program is: Windows client, Windows Server, Exchange Server, and SQL Server, in the newest and previous version. Programs in schools may be called networking, network administration, desktop support, and sometimes help desk. All ITPro products map to the Microsoft Unified Skills Domain (USD) for each technology, the same market researched curriculum for planning the certification exams and the rest of Microsoft s training products. 2 FAQ s: Q: How does the new networking curriculum change from Windows Server 2003? A: The curriculum changes entirely and dramatically. There is no one to one mapping with current exams. Microsoft has a new strategy behind certification positioning which divides the learning objectives between basic technology focused skills in the MCTS exams, and job role focused skills in the MCITP exams. Please see the attached diagrams for curriculum recommendations. Q: What will be in each course package? A: The textbook and lab manual each comes in the course. Q: Will Microsoft continue to provide trial software with Server 2008 texts? A: There will be Server 2008 Evaluation software available with the books. In addition, Wiley can provide MSDN AA free for the first three years with an adoption of the new program products. This gives the department free access to the full product. Q: Will the ITPro program include Virtual labs for Server 2008 A: Yes. More details will follow as these labs are in development.
