5 Backup This sectin describes: Hw t back up UCMDB 5 Hw t back up the Data Flw Prbe 6 Hw t back up HPE Cnfiguratin Manager 6 Hw t back up UCMDB 1. Stp all UCMDB Server f the server yu need t back up: Nte: If, after perfrming the backup, yu plan t install the restred prbe n a machine different t the riginal machine and yu are using agent-based discvery, yu must cnfigure the hst name f the restred prbe as a secndary call hme address befre yu start the back-up prcedure. Stp the UCMDB_Server service. Stp the UCMDB_Server Integratin service. 2. Back up the database and cnfiguratin files Back up the UCMDB Database schema (SQL Server/Oracle/PstegreSQL. 3. Back up the whle C:\hp\UCMDB\UCMDBServer flder. Althugh, when restring the UCMDB Server, yu will nt need all f these files, we recmmend keeping a full system backup f the UCMDB Server installatin flder because f varius custmizatins yu may have in yur system. 4. On the server that yu backed up, start all prbe services: Start the UCMDB Prbe service. Start the UCMDB_Prbe_DB service. Hw t back up HPE Cnfiguratin Manager 1. Stp the Cnfiguratin Manager service. 2. Back up the database. Back up the Cnfiguratin Manager database (MS SQL Server/Oracle) 3. Back up the entire <CM install dir>\cm_ flder. Althugh, when restring the Cnfiguratin Manager server, yu will nt need all f these files, we recmmend keeping a full system backup f the Cnfiguratin Manager installatin flder because f varius custmizatins yu may have in yur system. 4. 7 Recvery This sectin describes: Hw t restre UCMDB 7 Hw t restre the Data Flw Prbe 8 Hw t restre the Cnfiguratin Manager server 9 Hw t restre UCMDB Nte: The fllwing prcedure assumes that there is a backup versin f the UCMDB Server. Fr mre infrmatin, see "Hw t back up UCMDB" n page Restre the UCMDB Server database using the archive created when backing up the database. 2. Install the UCMDB Server n the recvery envirnment. Nte: Make sure that yu are installing the same versin f the UCMDB server that yu previusly backed up. Even if the backed up envirnment was updated t latest cumulative patch (CUP), install just the main release versin. The CUP will be installed after the server is first started up n the recvery envirnment. When yu g thrugh the installatin prcedure, yu will be prmpted t run the Server Cnfiguratin wizard. Run the wizard and select t cnnect UCMDB t an existing database. Enter the cnnectin details f the database yu restred abve. After installatin, start the UCMDB Server. 3. If the backed up envirnment cntained patches, r if UCMDB CUPs were installed, install the patches r CUPS n the recvery envirnment accrding t the directins prvided with the patches r CUPs. 4. Stp the UCMDB Server. 5. Restre the riginal cnfiguratin files n the restred UCMDB Server. HPE Universal CMDB (10.32) Page 7 f 12

In the backed-up UCMDB Server file system: Lcate the UCMDBServer\cnf flder, and cpy the entire cntents f this flder, except fr cmdb.cnf t the same flder n the recvery envirnment. Nte: All f the cntent f this flder is verwritten with the riginal cntent, except fr cmdb.cnf which cntains the cnnectin details t the restred database. Lcate the UCMDBServer\bin flder, and cpy the entire cntent f this flder t the same flder n the recvery envirnment. b. Start the UCMDB Server. 6. Restre the riginal cnfiguratin files n the restred UCMDB Integratin Service. a. In the backed-up UCMDB Server file system: Lcate the UCMDBServer\integratins\cnf flder, and cpy the entire cntents f this flder t the same flder n the recvery envirnment. Lcate the UCMDBServer\integratins\bin flder, and cpy the entire cntents f this flder t the same flder n the recvery envirnment. b. Start the UCMDB Server integratin service. Hw t restre the Data Flw Prbe Nte: The fllwing prcedure assumes that there is a backup versin f the prbes. Fr mre infrmatin, see "Hw t back up the Data Flw Prbe" n page Install the Data Flw Prbes n the recvery envirnment and then t the UCMDB Server in the recvery envirnment. Nte: Make sure yu are installing the same release versin as the prbe that yu backed up earlier. If the backed-up envirnment was updated t the latest CUP, install nly the main release versin. The CUP will be installed when the server is first started up n the recvery envirnment. If yu installed the Prbe n a machine different t the riginal machine, d the fllwing: a. Make sure that the machine n which yu are restring the prbe is in the same subnet as the riginal machine s that it can bring yu the same discvery results. HPE Universal CMDB (10.32) Page 8 f 12

9 Backup and Recvery Guide Recvery b. When installing the prbe, make sure that the prbe ID is exactly the same as the riginal ID frm the backed up envirnment. c. In UCMDB, exprt the ranges f the riginal prbe t a CSV file. d. Delete the riginal prbe frm the list f Data Flw Prbes. e. Start the newly installed prbe in the recvery envirnment. The new prbe has the same name as the riginal prbe. f. Imprt the ranges frm CSV file. g. Start the Data Flw Prbe. 2. Stp the Data Flw Prbes. 3. Restre the riginal cnfiguratin files n the restred Data Flw Prbe. a. In the backed up Data Flw Prbe file system: Lcate the DataFlwPrbe\cnf flder, and cpy the entire cntent f this flder except fr the DataFlwPrbe file t the same flder n the recvery envirnment. Nte: All f the cntent f this flder is verwritten with the riginal cntent, except fr the DataFlwPrbe file which cntains the cnnectin details t the restred UCMDB Server. If yu had special custmizatins in yur riginal envirnment, add them here but keep the cnnectin details t the restred UCMDB server. Lcate the DataFlwPrbe\bin flder, and cpy the entire cntent f this flder t the same flder n the recvery envirnment. b. Start the Data Flw Prbe. Hw t restre the Cnfiguratin Manager server Nte: The fllwing prcedure assumes that there is a backed up versin f the Cnfiguratin Manager server. Fr mre infrmatin, see "Hw t back up HPE Cnfiguratin Manager" n page Restre the Cnfiguratin Manager server database using the archive created when backing up the database. 2. In the backed up Cnfiguratin Manager server file system, lcate the CM_ \\cnf flder, and cpy the entire cntent f this flder except fr the database prperties file t the same flder n the restred envirnment. Nte: All f the cntent f this flder is verwritten with the riginal cntent, except database prperties which cntains the cnnectin details t the restred database. 6. Start the Cnfiguratin Manager server. 11 Backup and Recvery Guide Disaster Recvery Disaster Recvery The ht-standby cnfiguratin gives yu passive recvery n a disaster. It is extremely critical fr the database t have the best recvery methd. The UCMDB just needs t cnnect t the database. Nte: The versin f the ht-standby server shuld be exactly the same as the Applicatin server versin (r CUP versin). Disaster Recvery Prcess Fr UCMDB versin and later, yu can install a new prductin-like UCMDB instance f the same versin and cnnect t the prductin database by using the cnnectin wizard. Then yu can set up yur disaster recvery strategy fr the databases. Fr UCMDB versin and earlier, fllw the prcess belw: 1. Execute the SQL statements: Update CUSTOMER_REGISTRATION set CLUSTER_ID=null; truncate table CLUSTER_ SERVER; truncate table SERVER; truncate table CLUSTERS. 2. Cnnect the ht-standby server t Database by using the cnnectin wizard. 3. Re-cnnect all the prbes t the ht-standby server. HPE Universal CMDB (10.32) Page 11 f 12
