1 Mining Engineering Technician: Speciality Mine Exploitation FIRST YEAR PHYSICAL BASES OF ENGINEERING Core 1st 1st semester Mechanics. Electricity. Thermodynamics. Fluid mechanics. Classes on theory and problems. Lab practicals Students will be assessed by means of a final exam on the theoretical and practical course content and an exam on the lab practicals. The exams will count towards 80% and 20% of the final grade, respectively. MATHEMATICAL BASES OF ENGINEERING Core 1st 1st semester Linear algebra. Infinitesimal calculus. Integration. Differential equations. Numerical methods. Statistics. Theoretical and practical classes will be based chiefly on practical exams which may also contain questions on theory. Students will be given two mid-term exams in addition to a final exam in February.

2 TECHNICAL DRAWING AND REPRESENTATION SYSTEMS Core 1st 1st semester Drawing techniques. Photogrammetry and cartography. Topography. Mining topography. Theoretical classes and practical classes dedicated to the resolution of exercises individually and/or in groups on the main topics seen in the theoretical classes. of problems handed in during the course and a written exam with problems related to the course content. ECONOMICS Core 1st 1st semester General economics and mining economics. Evaluation. Theoretical and practical classes, class presentations. Written multiple-choice exam and problem resolution. CRYSTALLOGRAPHY AND MINERALOGY Compulsory 1st 1st semester Crystal matter. Systems. Crystal Physics and Crystal Chemistry. Descriptive Mineralogy. Theoretical and practical classes dedicated to laboratory recognition. Written exam on the theoretical and practical course content.

3 CHEMICAL BASES OF ENGINEERING Core 1st 2nd semester Bases of chemical engineering. Applied inorganic and organic chemistry. Theoretical classes, seminars, lab practicals. Written theoretical and practical exams. GEOLOGICAL BASES OF ENGINEERING Core 1st 2nd semester Fundamentals of stratigraphy and palaeontology Geodynamic processes. Mining and geothermal resources. Rock materials and minerals. Theoretical classes, fieldwork and oral presentation of practical cases. Written exam with essay questions and exercises. ORGANISATION Compulsory 1st 2nd semester Structure and analysis of organisation. Organisational models. Functions within and organisation. Theoretical and practical classes, oral presentations. Written multiple-choice exam and problem resolution.

4 ENGLISH Compulsory 1st 2nd semester Acquisition of comprehensive skills for the reading of technical texts in English. Theoretical and practical classes based on ESP (English for Specific Purposes). Written exam to assess the acquisition of English language skills as well as the manual titled Uso de la Lengua Inglesa y Traducción y ejercicios específicos del área (Obras Públicas y Minas) SECOND YEAR THEORY OF STRUCTURES Core 2nd 1st semester Resistance of materials. Analysis of structures. Construction. Theoretical classes, problems, questions and oral presentation of practical cases. Written exam with essay questions and resolution of questions and problems. ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY Core 2nd 1st semester Circuit theory. Electric machines. Electric power systems. Electric control systems. Theoretical classes, simulation methods and oral presentation of practical cases. Written exam with essay questions and problems.

5 GENERAL TOPOGRAPHY Compulsory 2nd 1st semester Preliminary notions. Instruments. Topographic uplifting. Plane drawing. Theoretical classes, fieldwork and oral presentation of practical cases. Written exam with essay questions and problems. Compulsory class attendance and practical class assignment to be handed in to the course instructor. FUNDAMENTALS OF MINE EXPLOITATION Core 2nd 1st semester Drive systems, use of explosives, exploitation methods, safety, environmental impact, assessment and remediation. Theoretical classes, resolution of applied problems, field trips to mine exploitations. Written exam with essay questions on fundamental concepts and problems.

6 ADVANCED MATHEMATICS Compulsory 2nd 1st semester Further knowledge of mathematical concepts. Classes on theory and problem solving. Students will be chiefly assessed by means of practical exams that may contain theoretical questions. The course is divided into two parts, each of which will be evaluated by means of mid-term exams and a final exam to be given in February. HYDRAULIC WORKS AND CIVIL WORKS Compulsory 2nd 2nd semester Hydraulics. Hydrology. Land movement. Classes on theory and problem solving. A mid-term exam and a final exam. TOPOGRAPHICAL DRAWING Compulsory 2nd 2nd semester Topographical drawing techniques. Alignment geometry. Transition surfaces. Specific topographic maps. Theoretical classes and practical cases where students will resolve exercises individually or in group on the main topics seen in the theoretical classes of problems done during the course and a written exam on problems.

7 MECHANICS AND MACHINE TECHNOLOGY Compulsory 2nd 2nd semester Fluid circulation by gravity, pumping, ventilation and compression. Hydraulics. Theoretical and practical classes. Field trips to mining installations. Written exam with essay questions and problems. METALLURGY Compulsory 2nd 2nd semester Obtaining metals from minerals and the refinement or elimination of impurities in iron, coal, lead, zinc, etc. Theoretical classes and field trips to enterprises in the sector. Written exam with essay questions. THIRD YEAR PROJECTS Core 3rd 1st semester Project methodology, organisation and management. Theoretical and practical classes. Students will be assessed as follows: Written exam on the THEORETICAL CONTENT, written exam on the PRACTICAL CONTENT and the presentation of a written assignment on a PRACTICAL CASE. Each of the parts will be assessed on a scale of 1 to 10. The final grade for the course will be calculated as the average of the three parts provided that the student has passed each of the parts.

8 MINERALS TECHNOLOGY Core 3rd 1st semester Minerallurgical operations. Minerallurgical processes and equipment. Theoretical and practical classes. Written exam on the theoretical and practical course content MINE PROSPECTING TECHNOLOGY Core 3rd 1st semester Geophysical prospecting. Geochemical prospecting. Research and assessment of mineral deposits. Theoretical classes, practical lab classes, fieldwork and presentation of assignments and individual practicals. Students will be assessed by means of an eliminatory mid-term exam and a final exam on the remaining course content. The exams will be written and contain questions to demonstrate acquisition of the course content as well as practical exercises to complement the theoretical course content. Students may voluntarily choose to take an oral exam on the theoretical content of the course. LAND MORPHOLOGY AND ENGINEERING Core 3rd 1st semester Soil mechanics. Applied geology. Rock mechanics. Theoretical classes, fieldwork and presentation of practical cases. Written exam with essay questions and problems.

9 ADVANCED MINE EXPLOITATION Core 3rd 1st semester 5 6 Drive systems, use of explosives, exploitation methods, safety, environmental impact, assessment and remediation. Practical classes and problems related to the course content. Professional internships. Mid-term exam, final exam and class assignment. LEGISLATION Compulsory 3rd 1st semester General labour legislation and specific legislation for the sector. The course will combine lectures with assignments on specific topics related to the course content. As this is a semester course students will only be given a final exam at the end of the course. Class attendance will be taken into account for purposes of final assessment.

11 MINING CONSTRUCTIONS Compulsory 3rd 2nd semester Infrastructures to access mineral masses for subsequent exploitation (wells, tunnels, galleries, etc) Theoretical and practical classes. by means of a written exam on the theoretical and practical course content. END-OF-DEGREE PROJECT Type Total Credits ECTS Credits Compulsory The degree must be completed with a final project whose aim is to integrate and summarise the knowledge acquired throughout the programme. Preparation and oral defence of a written paper before an examining board The project will be assessed by an examining board composed of three members.

Theoretical classes, practical classes in the computer lab where students will follow the drawing commands given by the course instructor with the aid of a video projector. Students will also be required to do individual exercises to integrate all the commands. of problems completed and handed in throughout the course and a practical exam to be conducted on the computer. SURVEYING Type Period Hours per week ECTS Credits Optional 2nd semester Drawing. Linear construction projects. Elevation. Land movement. Phases in the execution of a project. Calculating and redefining concrete constructions. Theoretical classes, fieldwork and oral presentation of practical cases. The practical assignments are a compulsory requirement for the course. Written exam with essay questions and problems. Attendance to the practical sessions and the practical assignment are compulsory.

13 SOLID AND LIQUID WASTE TREATMENT Optional 3rd 2nd semester Slope and tip stability. Mine water purification. Theoretical and practical classes. Written exam on theoretical and practical course content. GEO-ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING Optional 3rd 2nd semester Environmental geology. Characterisation and assessment of environmental impacts. Environmental treatment and waste management. Geological risks and territorial planning. Controlling vibrations and radiations. Theoretical classes, fieldwork and oral presentation of practical cases. Written exam with essay questions and problems.

14 COMPUTER SCIENCE Type Period Hours per week ECTS Credits Optional 2nd semester Introduction to computer science. Theoretical and practical classes using the computer. 40% of the final grade will be based on exercises assigned in class and turned in to the course instructor as well as attendance to 80% of the credit hours. The remaining 60% will be based on the grade obtained on an exam to be given in the computer lab. The exam aims to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the students throughout the semester TECHNICAL ENGLISH Type Period Hours per week ECTS Credits Optional 2nd semester The aim of this course is to further student s knowledge of and practical skills in the English language. Students will be required to read and translate specific mining texts. Theoretical and practical classes using authentic texts downloaded from Internet. Written exam, homework and class assignments.

ECTS CREDITS The courses have been assigned ECTS Credits by proportionally calculating their duration in accordance with the corresponding programme of studies and taking into account that the programme has a total duration of three academic years or 180 ECTS Credits (60 ECTS credits per year)
