7 NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT QCTO THE NATIONAL ACCREDITED TECHNICAL DIPLOMA The National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) qualifications are quality assured by the QCTO (an arm of the South African Department of Higher Education and Training). The programmes are aimed at post matric students who would like to enter the job market fairly quickly. The courses are aimed at encouraging selfemployment and at developing students in the practical component of the work environment. These courses lead to a National N Diploma: after completing N6 theory in the classroom, students need to acquire 18 months relevant, practical work experience, after which they can apply for the National Diploma. Note: the National N Diploma is evaluated as an M+3 qualification. Business Management prepares the prospective student for selfemployment. This programme provides vocational and practical skills as well as entrepreneurship training. We focus on: teamwork, problem solving, negotiating skills, motivation, leadership, creativity, adaptability, flexibility, time management and being innovative. 8 DIPLOMA IN OFFICE ADMINISTRATION NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Human Resources Management deals with formal systems in the management of people within the organisation. The areas relating to attracting, retaining and maintaining an effective work force include: human resources planning, job analysis, recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, training and development, reward systems and labour relations. An example of marketing management is creating an advertising plan and implementing that plan. 9 The N qualifications and part Qualifications have now been registered by SAQA in terms of Section 36 of the NQF Act, Act 67 of The National N Diploma at NQF Level 6, consisting of N4+N5+N6 (in the same field of Study) + either 18 months or 24 months evaluated work place learning. The duration of the evaluated workplace learning is determined by the duration of the relevant N programmes. In cases where the N programmes are of one trimester duration, twenty four (24) months of practical workplace learning is required. Where the N programmes are of six months duration, the practical workplace experience is eighteen (18) months. THINGS TO KNOW WHERE TO AFTER I COMPLETE MY N4-N6? These levels follow on from one another. When choosing a module, you must first have passed the module at the lower level. Before you can be awarded a qualification, you must have completed the required number of credits and the modules must be completed at the required NQF level. The National Diploma leads to the Baccalaureus in Technology (B-Tech) or to a National Higher Diploma (NHD)
