6 Release Notes During power outages, utilities need to predict the outage location, respond to the customer inquiries, and dispatch crews to restore the power quickly and efficiently. Managing the outage restoration business processes requires more than a single software application. Typically, outage management and crew management systems must interact with each other to create activities, dispatch crews, assign and send jobs to field crew(s), update work statuses, and finally, complete work in the field. Seamless application integration is especially vital in the storm situations, when human operators are often overwhelmed by the volume of work. Oracle Utilities Network Management System (NMS) Outage Management modules address the utilities needs to operate safely, securely, and efficiently during outages while reducing the outage durations. Oracle Utilities Network Management System provides a complete Storm Center environment that pin-points the size and location of outages, provides accurate estimated restoration times, and identifies the required crew resources. Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) helps utilities to optimize resource planning, scheduling, and field services. In real time, it helps to speed up emergency response, cuts down costs, enhances safety, and improves customer satisfaction. Oracle Utilities Network Management System Integration to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management provides enterprise integration to connect Oracle Utilities Network Management System to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management applications with efficient data synchronization through the full outage restoration process. It automates how utilities create events, predict faulty devices, identify crews, create job assignments, dispatch assignments to crews, track crew locations, monitor work progress, update ERT and restoration information, and complete outages. The integration benefits our utility customers by: Allowing them to optimize their outage restoration process from the point of outage event creation, crew identification, job assignment to a crew, work execution, and outage restoration completion. Tracking the crew locations and outage restoration status at all times. Eliminating the need to build and maintain integration in-house, lowering the total cost of ownership. The business processes supported by this integration include: Synchronize activities from Oracle Utilities Network Management System to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. Synchronize activity status updates from Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. Release Notes-1

7 Integration Processes Synchronize activity completion information from Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. Synchronize crew locations. Leveraging Oracle Application Integration Architecture, the solution provides what utilities need to implement sustainable, Services Oriented Architecture-based integrations. By utilizing the best practices and best-in-class Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle delivers an adaptable end-to-end solution that improves outage restoration process. Integration Processes This integration involves Oracle Utilities Network Management System v and Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management v It focuses on the Outage Restoration process of Utilities. The following figure shows the process driven data synchronization flows that are included in this integration. Integration Processes Key Features of this Integration The key notes about the integration and processes are as follows: The re-prediction use case describes the re-prediction process requested by the Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator or by the crew in the field using MDT as part of device confirmation, or done automatically by Oracle Utilities Network Management System based on various inputs (Calls, AMI, SCADA). This is an AIA direct integration based on Oracle SOA Suite. Release Notes-2

8 Integration Processes Business Processes The integration processes are synchronous in nature; every request communication ends with a success or failure response message. The integration processes can be customized. Utilities can extend them to suit their business scenario. Note: The crew synchronization functionality is not part of the current release. If an implementation needs to assign specific crew(s) in Oracle Utilities Network Management System, implementers need to devise a mechanism during the project execution. The integration supports the following business processes. Trouble Activity Creation (NMS - MWM) When an outage occurs in the field, the Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator captures a trouble event in Oracle Utilities Network Management System with all the mandatory information. This event creation sends the required information to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management to create an activity. Each event in Oracle Utilities Network Management System leads to single/ multiple activities in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management depending on the outage event restoration scenario. Crew is assigned to an event in Oracle Utilities Network Management System or may be assigned to an activity in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management based on the activity type. Intermediate Status Updates (MWM - NMS) Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management assigns and sends the work activity to a crew in the field. Crew can accept this assignment and update statuses, such as Dispatched, Enroute, Arrived, Started, Suspended, Postponed, or Returned back to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management based on the progress of the activity. Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management sends these intermediate statuses along with the crew assignment information to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. Trouble Event Detail Update (MWM - NMS) The activity details are recorded by the crew in the field or the dispatcher in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management based on communication with the crew., and then are sent to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. These details include information related to partial restoration, estimated restoration time (ERT), outage cause, failed equipment, or damage assessment. Crew Inquiry Request (MWM - NMS) Crew working on an activity may request additional information about customer, device, or clues captured on the trouble event using MDT. Oracle Utilities Network Management System sends the appropriate response back to the crew in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. Trouble Event Completion (MWM - NMS) When work is completed in the field, the crew updates the final work done along with restoration details on the activity completed in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. This activity completion information is sent to Oracle Utilities Network Management System where the Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator can manually complete the trouble event. 9 Integration Processes If there are more activities associated with the event, the Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator waits for the completion of the other activities before completing the trouble event. Trouble Event Cancellation (MWM - NMS) When an activity is cancelled in the field, a valid cancellation reason is captured. Subsequently, Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management sends a cancellation request to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. Oracle Utilities Network Management System determines if it is only related to a particular activity or entire event, and then cancels the respective activity or event accordingly. If the entire event is cancelled, Oracle Utilities Network Management System updates all other activities related to the event and sends a response back to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management to cancel the respective activities in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. Unrelated Damage Assessment (MWM - NMS) Field crews can capture an unrelated damage assessment. Details include damage type, material required, address, estimated crew time, and any other comments. Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management sends this information to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. The Oracle Utilities Network Management System operators determine whether to create a new event or associate it with an existing event. Crews without MDT call an Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator directly and inputs this information related to unrelated damages. Trouble Activity Detail Updates (NMS - MWM) The Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator updates information related to events, such as event status, event state, number of customers affected, number of calls, and ERT. This updated information triggers new activity creation, multiple activity updates, or even cancellation of the activity. Trouble Activity Cancellation (NMS - MWM) The Oracle Utilities Network Management System operator can cancel an event in Oracle Utilities Network Management System due to certain reasons that result in cancellation of all its associated activities in Oracle Utilities Network Management System followed by subsequent communication with Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management to cancel the activities. Trouble Event Creation (Assist Activity) (MWM - NMS) Crew in the field can call up the Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management dispatcher and request for additional assistance to complete the job. This leads the Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management dispatcher to create a new assist activity in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management and assign a crew to it. Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management further sends information, such as event ID, original activity ID, new activity ID, and crew ID to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. Oracle Utilities Network Management System updates the trouble event accordingly. Notifications (ERT Expiration Alarms) (NMS - MWM) Oracle Utilities Network Management System sends a notification to the field crew if the event is not completed within a pre-configured amount of time before the ERT. This pre-configured time period is configurable in Oracle Utilities Network Management System. These ERT alert notifications are sent to all the associated crews in the form of an internal system message. Release Notes-4

10 Certification on Latest Application Releases AVL Updates (Integration Layer Initiated) The integration layer process requests the crew location information from Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management and then send it to Oracle Utilities Network Management System periodically to indicate the actual location of crews. Specifically, the information sent to Oracle Utilities Network Management System includes the AVL ID, and latitude and longitude details. Oracle Utilities Network Management System displays this actual crew location on the viewer. Static Network Map (NMS - MWM) The initial snapshot of the maps are loaded into Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management manually. This process handles the map updates from Oracle Utilities Network Management System to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. There is no integration process for this flow. Heart Beat Check (NMS - MWM) To detect the communication status between Oracle Utilities Network Management System and Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management, the Oracle Utilities Network Management System mobile adapter sends heartbeat messages to the integration layer in case of a communication error. The integration layer sends the request to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management and sends the status back to Oracle Utilities Network Management System. Known Issues The following issues are known in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management at the time of this integration release. Single fixes for these issues may be released at a later date Data Adapters component Description: When a generic crew is assigned to an event the corresponding mobile activity should have crewtype populated and crewid empty. This does not happen if the activity is first created without a crew and assigned a generic crew later. Workaround: A patch for bug will be released Service Management component Description: The problem exists when a generic crew is assigned to an event. Crew Size is not mapped when the integration sends data to Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. The value has to be set to a default value in Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management. Workaround: A patch for bug will be released. Until then the customers can customize this mapping using the custom transformation in the integration layer. Ensure that the patch released for issue (mentioned above) is applied in Oracle Utilities Network Management System.
