1 Certified Professional Childproofer Certification Program CPC A-CPC Certification Continuing Education Units (CEUs) The certification program requires: CPC and A-CPC candidates to submit 15 CEUs for certification from within the past 2 years * CPCs and A-CPCs to submit 5 new CEUs when re-certifying. Recertification is every 3 years so CEUs are accepted for the three years prior to your re-certification date. 1 CEU = 1 point * To learn how to calculate the start/end date for the past two years, please visit FAQ. Please contact certification@iafcs.org if you have any questions. Please maintain records of attendance. The Board of Certification for Professional Childproofers (BCPC) may request proof of attendance for any CEU. Please submit requests to the Board prior to participating in a program. IAFCS Annual Conferences Fall 2017: IAFCS Conference: Baltimore (5 pts) Fall 2015: IAFCS Conference: New Orleans (5 pts) The Board of Certification will verify attendance with the IAFCS. Early departure from conferences will lower points you can earn. Small Business Association Classes These must be approved by the Board of Certification. Proof of participation is required. A maximum of 5 CEUs for SBA classes/business courses are permitted. Business courses are not permitted for recertification CEUs.

2 Review of ASTM Standard and Online Examination (3 points) - ASTM F1004 (ON HOLD AS A CEU SINCE THE STANDARD IS UNDERGOING CHANGES) ASTM F Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Expansion Gates and Expandable Enclosures There is a fee to purchase the standard from ASTM (ASTM fee is subject to change). There is a $35 testing fee for the online examination. Please contact Colleen Driscoll (certification@iafcs.org) to register. Candidates must receive an 80% or better on a multiple-choice online examination. Candidates are eligible to re-take the examination one time at least 7 days after a nonpassing score is received. Candidates are not required to submit proof of attendance. The Board of Certification will receive a confirmation of your test score from the testing company. Please retain the date you pass the exam for your records in case your application is audited The ABC Show (1 point)/other Trade Shows Visit for more information. IAFCS members should register as Independent Retailers and click on Baby Proofer under group membership. Candidates may be required to submit a copy of their registration or badge AND airline schedule or hotel confirmation, if your application is audited. If a candidate is unable to submit the required documentation, please contact the Board of Certification for other possible options. The Board of Certification allows one CEU for attendance at the ABC Show. Maximum of 3 points allowed for this CEU opportunity (1 per show). Additional shows such as the JPMA show will be considered. Please submit requests in writing to certification@iafcs.org Other Educational Courses related to Childproofing/Childproofing Business These courses must be approved by the Board of Certification. 3 Safe Kids Worldwide Seminars/Webinars or Other Injury Prevention Seminars/Webinars These courses must be approved by the Board of Certification. You do not need to submit documentation to the BCPC when you take the course. Safe Kids coalition meetings are not accepted unless a specific injury-prevention seminar is given (minimum of 1 hour for seminar). CPR Courses (1 point, if not used for Substitute Field Hours) The course must certify the individual for CPR (infant, child and/or adult) and include injuryprevention education. These courses must be approved by the Board of Certification. Requests must include: Name of Course Certifying organization Courses must be a minimum of one hour, please include length of course. documentation, in case you are audited. You do not need to submit documentation to the BCPC when you take the course. Literature Review (1 point) This CEU allows members to earn CEUS for research conducted related to injury prevention and childproofing. Perhaps you are researching a topic for a newsletter article to your clients or you are preparing a training course/safety seminar. Name of Article(s)/Topic Articles should advance your education related to childproofing/injury prevention. Basic level articles geared to new parents are not acceptable. Link for articles(s) or copy of articles. A very short summary of the articles and a description of how they relate to your childproofing business and continuing education. Timeframe for literature review (must be a minimum of one hour) Additional information may be requested by the Board of Certification. A maximum of 3 points may be earned from Literature Reviews for different topics.

4 Write a Newsletter Article (1-2 points per article) for Proof Positive, the IAFCS newsletter for child safety professionals Newsletter topics must be approved in advance. Please send a request to certification@iafcs.org 1-2 point per article (possibly more, depending on the article). Title of Article Brief description or outline of article How the topic relates to a childproofing business and continuing education Candidates will receive a confirmation from the BCPC within 14 days of your Articles may be featured in an upcoming issue of Proof Positive. Your name will be included with the article. Articles are for professionals, not parents/caregivers. Articles are subject to change by the IAFCS for publication in Proof Positive. Write a Newsletter Article (1-2 points per article) for Parents/Caregivers for IAFCS use Newsletter topics must be approved in advance. Please requests to certification@iafcs.org. 1-2 point per article. Title of Article Brief description or outline of article How the topic relates to a childproofing business and continuing education Please indicate if the article has already been published or you plan to publish it in the future If the article has been published, please include date published and possible link to article. Candidates will receive a confirmation from the BCPC within 14 days of your Articles may be featured in an upcoming IAFCS newsletter for parents and caregivers. Your name will be included with the article. Articles are subject to approval and change by the IAFCS for publication. Create a Webinar for Industry Professionals (approximately 5 or more points) Topics must be approved in advance. Please send a request to certification@iafcs.org Topic of Webinar Outline of article (approximately one page) Estimated points will be determined based on the topic and your outline. Final points will be determined after you submit a Powerpoint presentation of your webinar, including a script. Candidates will receive a confirmation from the BCPC within 14 days of your request and within 14 days for your final submission. This CEU opportunity is for webinars for professionals, not parents/caregivers. The final webinar is subject to approval and change by the IAFCS. Although you can earn CEUs, the IAFCS does not guarantee that your webinar will be offered.

5 Safe Kids Worldwide Child Passenger Safety Certification Program (2 points) You must complete the entire course and receive your certification. Your certification must be active. You must have completed the course within the past two years or three years for recertification. You must be able to provide proof of attendance/certification number after you complete the course (and the date of the course). You may not use this as a CEU if you use it for Substitute Field hours. Child Safety Professional Activities (maximum of 5 points for multiple activities) Examples of professional activities: o Speaking engagements (an outline or Powerpoint will need to be submitted to the BCPC) o Serving on a Child Safety Entity's Leadership or Committee (not all IAFCS committees are accepted). o Volunteer Work in the field of child safety o Other related Certifications. Examples include: Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (installation skills) These CEUS must be approved by the Board of Certification.
