1 HPE Knowledge Article HPE MSM Controller Series - How to Configure Different Login or Welcome Pages per VSC/ SSID Article Number mmr_sf-en_us Environment HPE MSM Controller 710 series HPE MSM Controller 720 series HPE MSM Controller 760 series HPE MSM Controller 765zl series HPE MSM Controller 775zl series Issue Different Login or welcome pages per VSC/ SSID Multiple Welcome pages per VSC/ SSID SSID aware local login pages Differelcome pages for the guest Users Cause Resolution Configuring the MSM controller: For VSC/SSID based login & welcome page add the following local attributes via the Controller/Public-access/Attributes screen: LOGIN-URL= WELCOME-URL= Explanation of the placeholders: %i Returns the domain name assigned to the controllers internet port %p Returns the port number on the controller where login information should posted for authentication. %E Returns the ESSID of the wireless access point the customer is associated with. NOTE: adding the above attributes will stop the normal html access-control from functioning until the service aware pages are

2 created and loaded. If you need to revert back to the original page. Just delete the two above attributes. Operation: With the above attributes activated, when a WLAN client connects to an access controlled VSC (configured for web/html authentication) the access controller will redirect the client to a local login page called xxxx-login.asp where the xxxx is equal to the SSID for the VSC. After successful authentication, the WLAN client will automatically be directed to a customized welcome page called xxxx-welcome.asp where again the xxxx is equal to the SSID for the VSC. 3 Attributes that are used: NOTE: make sure that you hit the RETRIEVE NOW button on the controller/public-access/attributes screen to activate the new attributes. Testing the configuration: The simplest way to test the solution is to create a login and welcome pages with minimal changes.

4 I.e. VSC SSID = Yellow: The controller will display Yellow pages. VSC SSID = Green: The controller will display Green pages. VSC SSID = Red: The controller will display Red pages. Creating the test pages from the default MSM controller pages. To copy internal pages: 1. Open the controller / Public-Access / Web-content screen 2. Scroll down to the Current files section 3. Double click on the file to be copied and open the file for editing 4. Highlight the whole of the file and copy to a clipboard. 5. Close the file 6. Select the 'add new file' button in the current files section. 7. In the text based content screen, paste the previously copied content. 8. Enter a new file name (examples below) and Save. Copy the default local index.asp to: a. Yellow-login.asp b. Green-login.asp c. Red-login.asp Copy the default local welcome.asp to: a. Yellow-welcome.asp b. Green-welcome.asp c. Red-welcome.asp Now to test the pages, simply change the bg-color of the table to Yellow, Green and red and save these changes for each welcome and login page. NOTE: The SSID name (example here Yellow, Green and Red ) determines the name which you need to use for the page name. Example of how one configured page (yellow) would look like:
