3 Covering solutions from circuit switching to IP and broadband access ANS TransLocal is a compact public circuit switch targeted at operators requiring fast deployment and full functionality switching. ANS TransLocal can be applied as a Point of Presence (POP) on new markets, as a combined local and transit switch, and as a Service Switching Point (SSP) in an Intelligent Network (IN). It supports a range of different signalling protocols and can be fully integrated into any existing or future, including AXE and ENGINE s. ANS solutions are presently in operation in more than 60 countries world wide. Well-suited for new and innovative operators With a capacity of up to 10,000 subscribers, ANS TransLocal offers a compact and cost-effective entry-level switch with excellent migration possibilities. New and emerging operators will find that ANS TransLocal offers an ideal platform for breaking into the market for telecommunication services, while established operators will see a way to extend their service offerings to new or more remote parts of their s. IP application for convergence of data and voice Besides being a stand-alone switch, the ANS has proven a cost-effective and flexible component in solutions for convergence of data and voice. By adding an IP application to ANS TransLocal, IP services can be offered, including Internet Dial-up access, Voice over IP (VoIP) and direct off-load of Internet traffic. These IP solutions are ideal for operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who wish to offer a wide range of services or test the market, without committing to a large investment. Telephony services Internet services Multimedia services IP services (VoIP) ANS enables convergence of voice and data services Brings telephony expertise into the IP world New Ericsson broadband access solutions combine traditional telephony with quality telephony over IP and multimedia services. ANS TransLocal as voice gateway is an important part of these solutions that form the next step on the ANS migration path. These new solutions target operators as well as Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and multimedia providers (e.g. Cable TV providers). Key benefits of ANS TransLocal Flexible and cost-effective Pay as you grow Full range of supplementary telephony services Ideal as Point of Presence and Point of Interconnect Built-in ISUP screening mask feature for easy adaptation of national ISUP variants Part of new Ericsson solutions with migration paths towards broadband access, IP and multimedia Easy operation and maintenance with the ANS Manager Complete operator training in only three weeks Short delivery and installation time
4 Multi-functional and flexible Fills in a range of functions The flexibility of ANS TransLocal enables it to fill in a range of functions such as: Combined local, transit and international switch Point of Presence (POP) and Point of Interconnect (POI) Service Switching Point (SSP) in an IN Public switch with POTS and subscribers directly connected V5.2 interface, concentrating traffic by connecting access nodes to ANS TransLocal Gateway functionality with multiple national and international signalling protocols (ISUPv.2, ISUPv.3, TUP, R2) Internet gateway functionality for Internet Dial-up access and easy off-loading of Internet traffic IP application for VoIP Offers a wide range of services ANS TransLocal allows the operator to offer a wide range of service offerings including: Ordinary telephony services - POTS and PBX access - DSS1/PRA and CAS Access screening and routing Number portability Address analysis incl. A- and B-number conversion IN services: Virtual Private Network functionality (VPN), IN access screening, number portability and Prepaid Calling Card Integrated Voice Announcement unit for delivering prerecorded announcements Charging and accounting of all local/transit calls and services POTS PSTN CSS7 ANS TransLocal IN SCP ANS TransLocal in traditional circuit switching application Added value with ANS TransLocal 5 ANS TransLocal release 5.x includes enhancements of existing features, new protocols and several new features. The most important new features are described below. ANS Call Server application integrates Intelligent Routing and Number Validation functionality into an SQL platform. The ANS Call Server handles routing and access screening, including Least Cost Routing, A-number validation, authentication, number portability and more. SNMP trap reception and trap relay application enables the ANS Manager to interface to non-ans clients and forward alarm messages to a higher level SNMP fault management system. AOC99 Advice of Charge. ETSI charging in multi-carrier environment including ISUP v.3. CS-1 V5.2 Access/ WLL POTS/
5 Combines telephony and IP services Various IP applications can be added to ANS TransLocal, combining traditional telephony with IP services. This provides a flexible multi-service solution for the conver- AXI VoIP gateway gence of data and voice and the transition from traditional circuit switched to packet switched s. POTS/ PSTN IP New business opportunities By combining IP services and traditional circuit switched services, ANS TransLocal presents a solution ideal for operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who wish to expand their business area or test the market, without committing to a large investment. The combined circuit switching and IP solution enables the operators and ISPs to have the entire solution supplied by Ericsson as a one vendor solution, offer a wide variety of services, and only expand those services that prove profitable. IP functions and services By adding an IP application, ANS TransLocal is able to provide IP services such as: Internet Dial-up access direct off-load of Internet traffic CSS7 over TCP/IP Voice over IP (VoIP) It is possible to only add Internet gateway functionality without VoIP, if the focus of the solution is on Internet Dial-up access and off-load of Internet traffic. Internet surfer VoIP user VoIP user ANS TransLocal AXC Internet Access Server ANS TransLocal in combined circuit switching and IP application Tailored to fit individual needs The IP applications are tailored to fit individual needs by combining the Ericsson products listed below: ANS TransLocal switch AXC 706/711 Multi-Service Access Platform (Internet Access Server) AXI 511 Voice over IP gateway Common management platform Inverse PRA and ISUP for interconnect ANS TransLocal offers two alternative solutions for new operators and ISPs for interconnect to incumbent operator s: Inverse PRA and ISUP. Inverse PRA is a cost-effective option for small ISPs that wish to employ ANS TransLocal as a Point of Presence (POP) using inverse PRA towards the incumbent operator. ISUP is an option for large ISPs that wish to become operators and for new operators that wish to run their own s.
6 One solution - one management platform ANS management system The ANS product family has its own operation and maintenance system - the ANS Manager. The ANS Manager efficiently configures, controls, and maintains the elements in an ANS. The ANS Manager enables the operator to control a number of elements through one single management system and utilize multiple, linked work stations to distribute O&M functions in a. The ANS Manager supports centralized as well as decentralized (DCN) operation and maintenance procedures and is built on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform. Multiple ANS Managers can easily be connected for ing capability via LAN or WAN. The ANS cabinet ANS TransLocal is designed to operate under practically any environmental condition. The cabinets conform to EMC standards and both indoor and outdoor cabinets are available. The photo below shows the indoor cabinet with three 19 subracks. The cabinet has a footprint of only 0.4 x 0.6 square metres and a height of only 1.20 metres. O&M integration in an ANS/AXE The ANS Manager interfaces with the Ericsson management system called Synergizer (XM), enabling O&M integration for mixed ANS/AXE s. This feature is particularly important for s using AXE as Service Control Point (SCP) by making it possible to manage the ANS/AXE from one centralized location. ANS Call Server LAN / WAN ANS Manager (Server) TCP/IP ANS Complete ANS TransLocal with 88 PCMs High Density technology implemented High Density technology has made it possible to make the generic PCM board four times as compact. This means that a complete ANS TransLocal with 88 PCMs, power, batteries and cooling fits into only three 19" subracks. Billing Centre AXE ANS Manager (Client) Synergizer (XM) Multiple ANS Managers connected via LAN/WAN
