The operates Net-Net OS and supports Acme Packet session border controller (SBC) and session routing proxy (SRP) configurations, functions and features. Session Border Controller (SBC) Acme Packet SBCs offer broad and comprehensive controls for session-based communications. The s advanced hardware architecture and components leverage Acme Packet s Net-Net OS to support our integrated SBC configuration, the Net-Net Session Director (SD), as well as the Net-Net Transcoding Gateway (TG), which delivers high-capacity dedicated transcoding for SIPsignaled media. SBCs can also operate in a Net-Net SBC cluster powered by Acme Packet s Net-Net Access Session-aware Load Balancer (A-SLB). Net-Net SBC clusters support up to two million subscribers without requiring architectural forklifts or network disruptions. 3 Hardware The is a rackmountable 7U chassis-based system. Utilizing a mid-plane design and multi-processor architecture, the achieves the highest levels of session processing and capacity, system throughput and redundancy in service provider and large enterprise and contact center applications. Front Modules The front of the 9200 features a bright LED display and seven slots for populating the chassis with network processing unit (NPU), signaling processing unit (SPU) and transcoding unit (TCU) modules. Each module integrates power and status LEDs for rapid troubleshooting and recovery. Modules are designed for installation in specific slots to assure system operation and prevent misconfiguration. The network processing unit (NPU) is implemented in a 1:1 redundant configuration and is responsible for wire-speed processing of signaling and media traffic as well as data. It delivers layer 2-4 packet intelligence, forwarding, and traffic management functions including DoS/DDoS self-protection. The signaling processing unit (SPU) is responsible for signaling control and delivers layers 5-7 session intelligence, accounting, and management. The SPU is implemented in a 1:1 redundant configuration and integrates hardware acceleration for SIP/TLS and IPsec. The transcoding unit (TCU) supports a wide variety of wireline and wireless codecs with highly-efficient DSP resource utilization that scales modularly to meet high-end transcoding requirements at access or interconnect borders. The Net- Net 9200 supports up to three TCUs with N:1 redundancy. Rear Modules The rear of the houses up to four network interface units (NIU) and redundant management interface units (MIU) as well as the fully-redundant fan and AC or DC power supply assemblies. Network interface units (NIU) provide physical connectivity to the network for signaling, media and data traffic. 1 Gbps NIUs also support optional hardware-based acceleration for IPsec and SRTP in applications and services requiring high-capacity encryption without affecting session quality. NIUs can be populated in 1:1 HA or non-ha configurations. The management interface units (MIU) provide physical connectivity to the network for interfacing with external management systems, and also support chassis and other system management functions.
