2 SIP is an internet and TELCO industry standard communication protocol SIP stands for Session Internet Protocol SIP transmits no audio nor video; it is for signaling and controlling of audio and video components as transmitted through TCP and UDP transport layers Traditional Analog telephone systems use a switching or exchange device such an PBX (Private Branch Exchange) to create a private telephone network that was locked in, meaning only proprietary handsets could be used Analog phone systems were restricted to a max. number of trunks (outside lines) New Age Digital IP PBX or IP Centrex or SIP Servers all use open standards for inter-operability and no restriction on number of extensions and trunks SIP is a standard for the TELCO industry as ONVIF is for IP video It means our SIP-based intercom system can integrate with existing VoIP telephony systems using SIP v.1, v.2 (RFC protocols)
