1 SIC 3G-GSM (RT-SIC-3G-GSM-H3) H3C MSR 3G Access Solution Overview As the 3G mobile network grows rapidly, more ISP enables end-users to enjoy wireless access at higher bandwidth, while delivering more 3G multimedia services. As a flexible, rapid, safe, and efficient Internet access mode, 3G access has increasingly become one of the mainstream WAN access modes. H3C MSR 3G solution effectively meets broadband access of mobile banks, mobile surveillance systems, mobile office and some other special networks. H3C MSR proposes 3G mobile access through an external USB 3G-Modem or 3G wireless module, having the following features and advantages: Upstream bandwidth is increased greatly, which effectively enhances reliability of 3G link as active or standby links. WAN access is more flexible so that users can easily deploy network as required. Wireless and wired are seamlessly integrated. Powerful network security and data encryption on MSR ensure the safety of wireless data communication.

2 Features and Highlights Supporting all three main 3G systems H3C MSR 3G solution supports three main 3G systems: WCDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA through connecting an MSR to an external USB 3G-Modem or 3G wireless modules with different 3G system supported. Currently, the MSR supports diversified 3G-Modems, including mainstream models to enable suitability and flexibility of 3G communication. Comprehensive services and functions On MSR, 3G interfaces works same as other physical interfaces, such as Ethernet interfaces, SA interfaces, and E1 interfaces. In other words, the 3G interfaces on the MSR support all services and functions based on the IP layer, such as interface backup, traffic statistics, anti-attack of networks, thus effectively achieving potential and values of 3G interface application. Multiple management tools The MSR router supports management tools through Command Line Interface (CLI), Web pages, SNMP and TR069. Applicable to remote centralized management in a large scale, TR069 significantly raises management efficiency and reduces maintenance expenditures,

8 Typical Application Independent networking of small and medium enterprises As an independent integrated access device for a small enterprise, the MSR uses a 3G interface as a main links or backup interface of wired links, which is suitable for small and medium enterprises that cannot conveniently obtain wired link resources. MSR use 3G interface as main WAN link or a backup link of wired interface. Networking for connecting headquarters and branches In the networking for connecting headquarter and branches, MSR in branches of enterprises can use 3G interface as the active link or standby interface.

MSR at branches and headquarter can employ IPsec data encryption to guarantee application security. An NMS can be deployed in the O&M center in the headquarters to manage routers and interface cards in a centralized mode. Self-service ATM application In general, ATMs are deployed in public places, such as shops and remote area, it is difficult to obtain wired links in certain circumstances. It is perfect to use 3G as WAN link now.

MSRs and devices in the network center support IPsec data encryption to ensure application security Application in fields or mobile scenarios H3C MSR 3G solution is suitable for the facilities whose physical positions are not fixed, such as mobile command cars for armies, temporary bank agencies, temporary post agencies. This 3G solution is also applicable for the places where wired resources are not easily obtained, such as off-shore oil production platforms and frontier guard posts.

As a result, mobile vehicles and temporary institutions can communicate with headquarters or directly access Internet. IPsec data encryption can be enabled for MSRs to communicate with networks in the headquarters to eliminate hidden security troubles.
