4 ARISTA 7500R/7500E/7300X Connectivity Guide CABLExpress 2 Cabling Your Arista Switches The purpose of this connectivity guide is to offer clear options in cabling the Arista 7500E, 7500R, 7300X and 7320X Series modular switches. The MXP ports on the 7500E can operate as standards-based 10G, 40G, or 100G Ethernet. The 7500E has eight other line cards available but this guide will specifically address the MXP line card. There are two options for chassis size: the 7504E (4-slot) and 7508E (8-slot). Arista 7500 E/R The 7500R has three line cards available operating 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G or 100G. There are three options for chassis size: 7504R (4-slot), 7508R (8-slot), 7512R (12-slot), and 7516R (16-slot). The 7300X operates at 1G, 10G and 40G. There are three options for chassis size: 7304X (4-slot), 7308X (8-slot) and 7316X (16-slot). The 7320X operates at 10G, 25G, 50G and 100G. There are two options for chassis size: 7324X (4-slot) and 7328X (8-slot). Ensuring these switches are cabled to run optimally in your enterprise network requires specific light paths and performance levels for connectivity. 5 7508R Core Cabinet Replicating: (288) 10G ports (288) 25G ports (72) 40G ports (72) 100G ports Port Replication ARISTA 7500R/7500E/7300X Connectivity Guide CABLExpress 3 Port replication mirrors the ports of active fiber optic hardware in a passive component (fiber patch panel), creating a direct, one-to-one relationship between the active hardware ports and the passive structured cabling environment. (24) 48/72 fiber OM4 MTP to MTP trunk for 40G and 100G Slot #3 with (144) 10G ports Slot #4 with (144) 10G ports Slot #5 with (144) 25G ports Slot #6 with (144) 25G ports Slot #7 with (72) 40G ports Slot #8 with (72) 100G ports (24) 48/72 fiber OM4 MTP to MTP trunk for 10G and 25G This allows switches to be cabled once and then replicated in a Main Distribution Area (MDA), simplifying the cabling process with all numbers on the hardware directly corresponding to the numbers on the patch panel. Any changes can then be made at the MDA, as recommended in the TIA-942 Data Center Standard. Making changes in the passive MDA environment reduces cable management issues, decreases opportunities for patching errors and limits wear and tear on active ports. The modules fit in our RSD Series 1U, 2U and 4U enclosures and H-Series 1U, 6U, and 10U enclosures. This allows for tapping to be seamlessly integrated into a structured cabling system. MXP IN 100GBE MODE - MTP 24 TO MTP 24 The MXP port in 100GbE mode utilizes a fiber optic assembly with 24-fiber MTP (or MPO) connectors. 20 of the 24 fibers transmit 100GbE across 10 send and 10 receive channels. There must be a cross from transmit to receive in this light path to connect as shown in the diagram to the left.
