The integrated IEEE b/g/n Wireless Access Point offers high-speed wireless connectivity while the ONT s two built-in antennas ensure optimal Wi-Fi signal transmission. The unit has two RJ-11 ports for connecting regular (POTS) telephones, allowing users to make simultaneous and independent VoIP calls, plus supporting call transfer, call waiting, calling line identification (CID), and Fax services. High-definition video delivery and IPTV service are also supported. The built-in robust fire wall provides protection against intrusion attacks while the Quality of Service features allow traffic prioritization and bandwidth management for downloads and online gaming. All units support an IEEE 802.3ah standard-compliant Gigabit Ethernet fiber Passive Optical Network (EPON) interface that supports fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) applications at 1/1 Gbps downstream/upstream (GEPON) and 2/1 Gbps (Turbo-EPON) speeds, and a 4-port 10BASE- T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T switch that enables a flexible and ultra-high-speed LAN operation for bandwidth consuming applications such as video streaming, file sharing, and IPTV. The ONT-2-E4021iWn is the full-feature EPON ONT, including the 4-port RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet switch, 2 POTS ports for VoIP, downstream RF Video Overlay, and IEEE n wireless (Wi-Fi) access. The ONT-2-E4020iWn is the same unit without the RF Video; the ONT- 2-E4021i provides RF Video without Wi-Fi; the ONT-2-E4020i gives up the RF Video; the ONT- 2-E4001i gives up the VoIP; the ONT-2-E4000i provides only the four 10/100/1000 Mbps ports for data-only communication; and the ONT-2-E400i is the bare-bones unit containing only the four 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet ports. This collection of ONTs provides the latest features and solutions for all high-speed PON applications and budgets. Multiple provisioning options are available to ease setup and configuration of Triple-Play services: these options include Aurora AurOS, CLI, Telnet, Web-GUI, TR-069 and XML secured provisioning. 2 Standard Features Gigabit Ethernet Ports (1000BASE-T) A 4-port 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet switch is built in, featuring automatic switching between MDI and MDI-X for the 1000BASE-T ports. Auto-detection is supported for straight or crossover Ethernet cables. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Client and Server As part of the Residential Gateway features, the ONT includes a DHCP server that serves IP addresses to CPEs attached to the LAN ports. From the WAN side, the ONT s DHCP client can obtain a WAN IP address directly from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) automatically. For LAN-attached customer devices, the DHCP server in the ONT can allocate a range of client IP addresses and distribute them, including IP address, subnet mask, and DNS IP address, to local computers. Layer 2 DHCP relay (with Option 82) is also supported. Advanced Quality of Service The ONT supports advanced Quality of Service control features such as rate limiting on a per-port basis, bandwidth management, and Traffic Prioritization based on Layer 2 (802.1p) and Layer 3 (DiffServ) primitives. Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) A DNS Relay provides an automatic way to associate a domain name (a user-friendly name such as with an IP address of a service or device. When a local machine sets its DNS server with this relay s IP address, every DNS conversion request packet from the PC to this gateway will be forwarded to the real DNS in the outside network. The Dynamic DNS service allows you to alias a dynamic IP address to a static hostname. Network Address Translation (NAT) NAT and NAPT (Network Address Port Translation) simultaneously allow multiple users to access outside resources (such as the Internet) with one IP address/one Internet access account. Firewall and Rich Packet Filtering A firewall with rich packet filtering process not only filters the packet based on an IP address, but also based on Port numbers. Packets will be filtered from and to the Internet, providing a higher level of security control. Virtual Server Users can specify services to be visible from the WAN side of the device. The ONT can detect incoming service requests and forward either a single port or a range of ports to a specific local computer for dispensation. For example, a user can assign a PC in the LAN acting as a WEB server inside and expose it to the outside network. Outside users can browse inside web servers directly while protected by NAT. A DMZ host setting is created for the local computer that is exposed to the outside network. IPv6 All ONT-2-E4xxxi family devices include IPv6 features which include DHCP for both WAN and LAN, DS-Lite, and PCP Universal Plug and Play (UPNP)/Port Control Protocol. Flexible Management Interfaces The ONT supports Ethernet OAM per IEEE specifications through flexible management interfaces with LAN and WAN ports. Users can use Telnet, Web GUI, and SNMP through the WAN and LAN ports to configure and manage the device. Support for Aurora Operating System (AurOS) is built in for service provisioning and management of data, IPTV, and VoIP services. Provisioning of Wi-Fi/RG services are supported via a standard browser and web interface. The device can be upgraded to the latest firmware remotely through the Web-based GUI. Enclosure Features The aesthetically-pleasing enclosure features a streamlined compact design, with an optimized rear access for a physically-secure fiber PON port. All connectors are on the rear-side of the unit. Connections include four (4) 10/100/1000 Mbps data, two (2) POTS, battery backup/ups, and 12 VDC input. A USB port is not currently supported. A separately sold, thin, modular fiber slack management tray, when mounted underneath the unit, securely hides excess fiber and protects it from potential abuse or destruction. Ample LED indicators are available, conveniently located on the top-front of the unit, easily in view by the user to monitor important status information. Interface Options IEEE n Wireless Access Point with Support for Secured Access With an integrated n Wireless Access Point in the gateway, the device offers quick and easy connectivity between wired, wireless, and broadband networks, with single device simplicity. As a result, optimal mobility is provided to users. The Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) features enhance the security level of data protection and access control on the Wireless LAN. The unit is backward compatible with existing g and b equipment. WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is also featured for easy establishment of secured wireless networks. True RF Video Unlike other solutions that focus only on IP video, the ONT-2-E40x1 family provides for both IP and RF video over the same single fiber as all other services. These innovations allow for inter-operation with industry standard 1550 nm optical components for superior RF video performance. Furthermore, the RF Automatic Gain Control implementation decreases deployment costs through total plug-andplay installation. Voice over IP The device provides 2 POTS voice ports with SIP protocol for interoperating with industry-standard VoIP switches. A wide variety of telephony features are included, such as silence suppression, voice activity detection (VAD), comfort noise generation (CNG), echo cancellation, call waiting, call transferring, and Caller ID (CID). A broad range of codecs can be used with the ONT. T.38 Fax transmission and Fax pass-through modes of operation also are supported. P/N (Rev B, 04/2014) Page 2 of 5
