2 Functions Basic functions Faults Sources of fault Indication of faults Fault relays Fault status messages Acknowledgement of faults The OZW775 central communication unit: Facilitates access to plant and Synco devices via operator station connected either directly or via modem to display and / or change parameters, process values, operational data, and 7-day programs / holiday programs Monitors the Synco devices on the Konnex network and acquires fault states at the digital and universal inputs Reports faults through direct connection to a local operator station and via modem to operator stations, SMS recipients, pagers, fax machines, or recipients* As the clock time master, defines the system time for the devices on the Konnex network As the system clock with adjustable time zone, controls summer- / wintertime changeover * Only possible with GSM modem, and depending on the telephone provider The central communication unit detects failures and faults of the devices on the Konnex network that are contained on the unit s device list (fault source "System"). The central communication unit identifies internal faults and fault states at its digital and universal inputs that are configured as fault inputs (fault source "Local"). Typical faults at the inputs are: Overload signals from thermal cutouts Error states signaled by switches or monitors Limit value crossings Fault states of aggregates and plant Common messages from external plant Depending on the source of fault, the central communication unit indicates faults either with its "Local" LED or "System" LED. The "Local" LED also indicates when the number of operating hours for service are reached. 2 relay outputs can be configured as fault relays. This means that, in addition to LEDs, faults can be indicated by optical or acoustic alarm devices. Faults can also be delivered via PC or modem port in the form of text messages. For messages via modem, both the number of repetitions and the modem message interval can be parameterized. An unacknowledged "Local" fault is indicated by the "Local" LED flashing. After acknowledgement of the fault with the "Ack" button, the LED will be lit as long as the fault is pending. If a fault relay is configured, it will be reset by pressing the "Ack" button. The behavior is the same with unacknowledged "System" faults with configured fault relays. If no fault relay is used, "System" faults will automatically be acknowledged, that is, the "System" LED will immediately be lit (no flashing until acknowledgement takes place). External fault acknowledgements can be made via a digital input, if the input is connected to input "Ack" of function block "Faults". System report The central communication unit is capable of generating system reports and of periodically forwarding the system s operating state to different types of message receivers. 2/16

3 History The history includes the last 500 events covering faults, fault status messages and system reports. The events are entered in the circular storage of the central communication unit. The data contained in the history can be read at an operator station which has the ACS7 software installed. Offline trend The "Offline trend" facility enables the user to log the values of selected data points of the central communication unit and of the Synco devices contained on the device list. For the definition of trends and for the kind of presentation of logging on an operator station, and for data export (e.g. to an Excel spreadsheet), the ACS7 software is required. 5 offline trends can be defined and simultaneously operated. Trend logging can comprise a minimum of 10,000 values (number of data points x number of sampling operations). Examples: The central communication unit has enough storage capacity to log with each trend: 1 data point at 30-second intervals for 83 hours 6 data points at 30-second intervals for 27 hours 10 data points at 5-minute intervals for 7 days The number of values that can be acquired become smaller if, at the same time, text (e.g. names of inputs, names of aggregates in the case of hours run) shall also be recorded. 5 Technical design The central communication unit contains a number of function blocks (FBs). The functionality of the unit can be extended by connecting (binding) the digital inputs N.D1 N.D8 and the universal inputs N.X1 N.X8 to the FB inputs "d", "x", and "i" (for a description of the FBs, refer to the next page). Inputs and outputs Digital inputs Universal inputs Relay outputs The digital inputs N.D1 N.D8 are used for the connection of potentialfree status contacts. When using the digital inputs for FB "Faults", they act as fault inputs. When using them for FB "Operating hours", the number of operating hours of aggregates, such as burners, pumps, fans, etc., can be counted. The universal inputs N.X1 N.X8 can be configured for use with potentialfree status and counting impulse contacts and for analog signals from sensors and transmitters. If the universal inputs are configured for status contacts (digital) or limit values (analog) and connected for FB "Faults", they act as fault inputs. If configured for operational status contacts of aggregates and connected for use with FB "Operating hours", the number of operating hours can be acquired. If configured for counting pulses and connected for use with FB "Meters", consumption values (heat, gas, electricity, etc.) can be acquired. The outputs of relays N.1 N.4 have NC contacts and those of relays N.7, N.8 have NO contacts. To signal faults (e.g. with signal lamps or horns), relay 1 and / or relay 2 of FB "Faults" will be connected to one of the relays N._. If one of the relays N._ is connected to a FB "7-day time switch with control switch", relay N._ in "Auto" position operates according to the time switch program, otherwise according to the control switch position "Off" or "On". 6 Function blocks FB "Faults" FB "Operating hours" FB "Meters" FB "Message receivers" FB "7-day time switch with operation selector" FB "Faults" features 20 fault inputs. Inputs N.D1 N.D8 (digital) and N.X1 N.X8 (digital / analog) are configured as fault inputs and will be connected to FB inputs "x". Relay 1" and / or "Relay 2" will be energized, depending on fault priority and fault source. FB "Faults" handles faults and failures of the Synco devices ( System faults) contained on the device list as well as faults at the fault inputs and faults of the central communication unit ("Local" faults). To facilitate external fault acknowledgement, a digital input must be connected to input "Ack". External fault acknowledgement acts like pressing the "Ack" button. FB "Operating hours" can handle up to 5 hours run meters. The operational status contacts of the aggregates will be connected to FB inputs "d" via the digital inputs N.D1...N.D8 or N.X1...N.X8 (configured as digital inputs). If a service interval is defined, the Local LED indicates when the number of operating hours are reached and, if configured, a service alarm will be delivered. FB "Meters" can handle up to 8 meter values. The universal inputs N.X1 N.X8 (configured for counting pulses) will be connected to FB inputs "i". The counting pulses acquired from the heat, water, gas and electricity meters are converted to consumption values, e.g. energy in Wh or kwh, or volume in m 3. The last 15 monthly values with their readout dates will be stored. FB "Message receivers" is subdivided into 4 receivers. Message inhibition via input "d" acts on all receivers. Individually selectable for each receiver are the type of receiver and the fault priority. Each receiver has a "Time switch with calendar" for programming 3 transmission times per day and holidays / special days. Outputs "c" will be connected to PC or modem port "c". Different receiver outputs can be connected to the PC or modem port. Example: All fault status messages from Monday through Friday, 08:00-18:00, are forwarded to the "Service Center", e.g. a fax machine. Outside these hours, the fault status messages will be sent to "24-hour Service", e.g. SMS to mobile phone. Using relays N._, the 4 FBs "7-day time switch with operation selector" enable different consumers to be switched according to a time schedule. On each 7-day time switch, up to 6 switching points per day can be programmed (3 x "On" and 3 x "Off"). Also, a configurable operation selector is integrated having the positions "Auto" / "Off" / "On". If a time switch output "" is connected to a relay input, position "Auto" ensures that the relay will be energized and deenergized according to the time program, or the relay will constantly be deenergized or energized. FB "System report" In FB "System report", the time the message is sent (hh:mm) and the message cycle interval ( days) for delivery of the system report can be programmed. System reports are transmitted to one or several message receivers, depending on fault priority (urgent / nonurgent). 6/16
