4 Safety instructions Safety instructions General information This document is a supplement to the installation instructions for tiltrotator operating system 10/μ-prop, and provides instructions for connecting Danfoss and OTTO joysticks. Complete installation instructions for the whole system can be found in the assembly instructions for tiltrotators with a SS10/μ-prop control system. The safety information in this manual relates directly to the SS10/μ-prop and does not regard the base machine. In addition to these assembly instructions, you should carefully read the relevant safety information for your base machine and any other equipment you will be using. Do not attempt to install, use or perform maintenance on the tiltrotator/rotator and its enclosed equipment before carefully reading all the information regarding the tiltrotator/rotator, its related equipment and the base machine. Observe all safety instructions carefully. NB: There are further safety instructions in the instruction manual for the rotator. Identification and marking of the tiltrotator/rotator Check that the information in Certification of conformity corresponds to the information on the machine (see point 2, Checking the type plate in the assembly instructions for control system 10/μ-prop), the equipment and the documentation. In the event of non-conformities, contact your supplier before first assembly. Carefully read all warning texts before assembling or using the tiltrotator/ rotator and its accompanying equipment. The warning texts explain potential risks and how to avoid them. If in any doubt, contact your employer or supplier. Remember that sound judgment and thorough knowledge of your machinery reduces many unnecessary risks. Consequently, operators should take the time to learn safe use of the tiltrotator/rotator and its related equipment before starting operation. Cautions Faulty installation can be dangerous. If in any doubt, contact your dealer or engcon Nordic AB. Ensure that the hydraulic system is decompressed before starting work on the system. Risk of personal injury. NB: Observe the maximum input pressure and maximum input flow. This applies to all control systems. See technical data. Page 4

5 Safety instructions Switch off the power when working with the electrical system and remove rings, watches etc. before starting work. Risk of personal injury. Never use your hands to check for leaks in the hydraulic system. Hydraulic oil under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Implements connected to the tiltrotator / rotator may not be used unless correctly locked into place. ALWAYS make sure that the lock bolts protrude according to the specifications for the relevant quick hitch. Take care if using a ladder to install parts. Risk of personal injury. Never attempt to increase the equipment s maximum capacity by making modifications without the supplier s approval. Short circuits in electrical cables can cause injury and burning. Insulate electrical conductors and parts carefully when installing electrical equipment. Risk of burn injuries from hot hydraulic oil. The machine must never be operated with the implement lock switch turned on, except when attaching or detaching a bucket or implement. 10 3 Dismantling of original joystick Remove the original joystick and its gaiter. 4 Installation of ball Use a ball that fits in the threads of the joystick servo and screw it into place. Page 10

11 5. Installation of adapter insert Mount the adapter insert in the joystick and screw it into place with the locking screw on the joystick. NB: Position the adapter insert so that the cabling is not damaged by the locking screw. 6. Assembly of joystick Fit the gaiter and hold it down. Fit the adapter insert with the joystick on the ball and screw it into place with the locking screws for the adapter insert. Page 11

12 7. Protecting the line from mechanical stress Hold up the gaiter and pull the line half a turn around the joystick mounting point, then push it down into the console. 8. Remount the joystick Page 12

13 9. Connection of joystick, machine functions Connect the machine s original functions to the joystick buttons. Also see connection diagram for the machine. The positions of the buttons and functions should correspond as far as possible to those on the original joysticks. Use pins, sleeves and connectors compatible with the machine. Any buttons that are not needed for the machine s original functions should be used for the tiltrotator functions. NB: SW5 (button on back of joystick) is only for OTTO joystick. Page 13
