These systems include ADA s Suite 8x8, Suite 6 and HTR-4. Users can control and navigate the s music database from ADA keypads, making it easy to select music (or audiobooks) by playlist, genre, artist, album or song (or audiobook). The, when used with the and WP, display information in real time on ADA keypads that feature a display. When using an ISO-E ( to Ethernet), ISO-CAT-II ( to RS-), or ISO-USB ( to USB) converter device, the provides control and feedback to touchscreen control systems. The has several address settings that permit multi-line text feedback specifically for touchscreens. When using both ADA keypads and touchscreens together in a system, specific address settings can be used to provide feedback to both single line display ADA keypads and multiple line touchscreen feedback windows. The with the optional and the WP can be used in any number of different installation scenarios. Also, multiple s can be used in a single installation (up to eight). Finally, the can also be used on its own as an attractive and functional docking base for the family of music players. 5 Audio Design Associates, Inc., All rights reserved. 3 Docking & Undocking the Definitions: Remote Control Mode - The is controlled by the ADA system keypads and/or touchscreens. Music Photos Extras Settings Shuffle Songs Backlight Control Mode - The is controlled by its touch wheel. No ADA system control. The has two push-buttons on the front right corner of the unit. The outer button and its associated green LED is the Control Mode button. When you place the in the ADA it will be automatically sensed and placed into Remote Control mode. This process normally takes a few seconds and is indicated by the plexiglass back going through a red-yellow-green color sequence. The green LED illuminates when the is docked. By pressing the Control Mode button it will place the into the Control mode, allowing you to control it directly from the s touch wheel. If you change back and forth between Remote Control mode and Control mode, expect a delay as the resets its sequence. Whenever the is switched between Remote Control mode and Control mode, the song playing will stop and the current selection will clear..net Music Photos Extras Settings Shuffle Songs Backlight Control Mode button set to Control.NET Control Mode button set to Remote Control Manual Ver July 5

Setting the Lighting Mode The inner button on top of the switches between the light display modes that illuminate the plexiglass against which the sits. You can create two different lighting setups - one for when the is docked and one for when it is removed from the. Light Mode Button Set when is undocked. When removed, there are eight settings. You can select one of seven solid colors or off. When the is on the, there are twelve settings; four audio controlled modes (light organ), seven solid colors, and off. Each time you press the Light Mode button it changes to the next mode..net Light Mode Button Set when is docked. Your selection is stored in nonvolatile memory so it will illuminate the same way each time the is on the or removed. If you select one of the audio controlled modes while the ipod is stopped, paused, or playing a quiet track, the plexiglass won t illuminate. The audio controlled modes change in color based on the audio level, like a color organ. The first two audio controlled modes have fixed filters to control the colors (different colors assigned to different frequencies) with two different modulation rates (slow light show or fast light show). The second pair of audio controlled modes are randomized (progressive color changes independent of frequencies) with two different modulation (speed) rates. July Manual Ver..

8 Description The ADA features a metal base with a plexiglass mount. The connector for the is at the bottom of the plexiglass in the front of the. There are also two buttons and two LEDs on the top plate of the. These set the lighting mode and Control mode of the. Docking Connector Light Mode Selection Control Mode or Remote The unit has various connectors on the rear panel. There is a DC jack for local power and an address switch set for control and feedback options. The pin port (RJ-5 connector) provides DC power, ADA Bus communication and balanced audio in a single wire, which affords neat installations. Using the RJ-5 port allows the to be placed long distances (tested up to 6 of Cat. 5 wire) from the main equipment rack while maintaining audio quality and remote data control. When using the in this manner, the ADA and WP (Wall Plate) accessories must be used. The should be placed at the audio equipment end of the wiring run, converting the balanced audio back to unbalanced audio (RCA jacks) and the control data to data. DC Input Switch extender Port For Photos, there are a composite video and S-Video outputs. Currently there are no remote control codes for photo display operations. Stereo audio outputs are provided through standard RCA connectors and as balanced audio through the extender port ( pin RJ-5 connector). You may use both simultaneously. 9 Kit Description The ADA Kit includes three items: the, the WP (Wall Plate) and the RJ-5 wire that connects the WP to the. AC Input extender VAC 5mA Audio Output L R Output Level Audio Output Level Control The should be located at the main equipment location. It features stereo audio outputs on its front panel for connection to the music system. The Audio Output Level Control permits you to adjust the output level of the prior to preamplification. There is also a low voltage AC input jack for connection to the included transformer. WP (Wall Plate) Connector Stereo Audio Out Switch Connector The back of the features a ten pin screw terminal connector which is attached to the wires between the and the WP (Wall Plate). There is also an screw terminal connector for wiring to a WH- or WH-4 Wiring Harness. The switch is used to set the address of the and must match that of the. The WP is the wall plate to which the is connected. ADA also provides the flat wire with -pin RJ-5 connectors in a ten foot length for connection of the WP to the. The front of the WP features the RJ-5 jack as well as a low voltage DC input jack. 10 & extender ing The backs of both the and the have a rotary switch with sixteen position options labeled -9 and A-F. These are described in the chart at the bottom of the page. To ensure proper communication with ADA keypads and/or touchscreen control systems, the address you select must match the source control settings of the keypads and/or touchscreen control system. It is extremely im- portant that both the and the extender be set to the exact same address at all times ADA Keypad Text Displays - The transmits the first 4 characters of text information generated by the. ADA keypads that feature a character display require text feedback to be sent in strings containing characters. If a data field (status, song, artist, album, playlist, genre or audiobook) contains more than characters, the keypad will scroll all characters (up to 4) across the display once, then rest on the first characters. When displaying multiple data fields, the fields display one at a time. There are eight Special CD address options permitting up to eight s to be included in a single installation. Please note that with each additional / on the system, the system s data traffic will increase, which might slow down control and feedback operations. Touchscreens - The displays all four data fields (status, artist, album, song) at once. Touchscreen feedback is limited to 6 characters per field and does not scroll text. Combination es - For systems using both ADA keypads and touchscreens, there are four address options that will provide data to both at the same time. Control Codes - The control codes are the same for keypad or touchscreen settings. As such, if you are controlling the via the from a touchscreen and are not getting any feedback, try the same Special CD address number using the alternate feedback option (instead of four line, try single line). Legacy ADA Keypad Systems - Legacy systems typically operated at baud and used segmented LED displays that only represent capital letters. For these systems, you can use one set to address F. Here the will generate only capital letters and communicate at baud.
