1 SmartHarness Electronic Control Module 0610 (SH-ECM-0610) Description The SH-ECM-0610 is a compact input/output (I/O) device that interconnects via the Controller Area Network (CAN), to other electronic control modules (ECMs) in a vehicle. Multiple ECMs are deployed as standardized interfaces to control various body functions in a vehicle. I/Os can be configured to control and provide power to indicators, wipers, headlights, fans and numerous other loads in the vehicle. The SH ECMs are interchangeable; keeping the harness standardized thus enhancing implementation and maintainability. It may also be deployed as a stand-alone general purpose/special function controller. A sufficient number of ECMs strategically distributed throughout a vehicle, substantially simplifies the wire harness design and eliminates any need for fuse and relay circuits. The SH-ECM-0610 is generic and utilises a powerful ARM Cortex M4 Micro Controller Unit (MCU), providing the necessary resources to accommodate a vast number of body function configurations. The SH ECM is pre-configured for standard body control functions, and can be customised to accommodate nonstandard functions. Reserve processing capacity allows the user to implement any harness changes, upgrades or expansions that might be required during the lifetime of the vehicle. The SH-ECM-0610 has six general-purpose inputs available. Four of these inputs can be configured to accept either analog or digital signals. The remaining two inputs are configurable digital inputs that also have timer/counter functionality. Any vehicle body condition that needs to be monitored, i.e. ignition switch, D+, wiper park feedback, speed, etc. could be wired to SH ECM inputs. The SH-ECM-0610 has ten 5A highside output drivers available. Current consumption and voltage level per SH ECM output are continuously monitored. Diagnostic feedback such as open-circuit and short-circuit conditions are reported. Outputs function as switches with configurable current trip settings (fuse value) as well as trip delay settings such as short/fast blow etc. In the event of a trip occurrence, the output will be restored, avoiding false `blown-fuse conditions as with traditional fuses. An SH ECM output will thus act as a `resettable fuse. A single output can serve two or more loads simultaneously. Furthermore, two or more output driver channels may be connected to the same load for increased current capacity. Features Continuous total load current up to 30A.
