1 Safety notes uservo box instruction manual Every machine controlled by computer (PC) can be really dangerous for human life and health. Comply with bolow rules and use Your common sense while working with the machine: Preface NEVER do any additional jobs while the power is connected to the machine (like material clamping). If You are clamping the material, check if the E-Stop button is pressed (machine locked) NEVER put Your hands close to the moving parts of the machine. There is a risk of accident and/or machine damage ALWAYS make safe the place of using the machine and keep children and unauthorized personel away from the machine. It is not a toy! ALWAYS work only with efficient machine, use only efficient tools. ALWAYS use safe holders/clamping tools for holding the material. For this purpose use only intended equipment TRY to use simulation software, to prevent possible collisions of tool with holding elements. If simulation software is not available, try to run Your new G- Code with minimal speeds. ALWAYS connect Your machine to efficient electric net, which MUST has safety wire. USE personal safety equipment: safety glasses and equipment lowering the noise. NEVER use gloves! uservo box version is designed for quick and easy CNC solution for new machines, and also as a replacement for existing steppers systems. In the box there are all needed components built in. In standard there are: uservo drives (3 or 4 pcs, depends upon version, see uservo drive manual for details) uservo breakout board (see uservo Breakout board manual fo details) logic power supply motors power supply (voltage and power depends upon version and customer requirements) complete front panel (main power switch, E-Stop button, leds indicators for power supplies,drive reset switch, inputs/outputs connectors, PC LPT connector, motors and encoders wires 2,5m long in standard). As us for details at info@cncdrive.com 1. Main Power switch By setting it in On possition, the power voltage is on. In this case green led (8) and two red leds (9)(10) should be also on. 2. Emergency stop button (E-Stop) By pressing it, drives are stopped, no operation/movement is possible. To un-press it, turn it in CW direction. 3. Reset button 9 10 This button resets all drives in the control box. You can use it to reset drives if any error exists (like overcurrent protection, encoder error limit was reached, overheat error) 3 7

3 4. Outputs connector This connector is wired up to breakout board s output pins (optically isolated). Connector is D- Sub DB9 female type. Pinout stands as the following: 1. 5V open collector 2. Analog output (0-5V) 3. no connection 4. no connection 5. no connection 6. no connection 7. no connection 8. GND (logic PSU) 9. GND (logic PSU) 5. Inputs connector This connector is wired up to breakout board s inputs terminals (optically isolated). Connector is D-Sub DB9 female type. Pinout stands as the following: 1. Input 1 2. Vcc 3. Input 2 4. Vcc 5. Input 3 6. Vcc 7. Input 4 8. Vcc 9. GND Activation of these inputs can be done by shorting an input to Vcc (with mechanical limit switch for example). 6. PC LPT connector This connector is for Your PC connection. Use standard printer cable (D-Sub25 male to Centronics36 male) to connect the box with You PC s LPT port. 7. Motors and encoder s wires The box is equipped with both motor s and encoders wires. Standard length of wires is 2,5m. Encoders wires are shielded and grounded inside the box. Because of this You do NOT need to connect the encoders wires shield to anything. While connecting motors to control box there is a chance to connect it is opposite polarity. If the motor is not holding the shaft with its torque, then its sure that You should change the polarity of motors connection. Connecting encoders

Main power supply indicator This green LED indices the main power supply (230VAC) activity. 9. Motors power supply indicator This red LED indices the motors powers supply activity. 10. Logic power supply indicator This red LED indices logic power supply activity. 11. Mach3 (or other step/dir software) ports&pins setup Below is description of control box s Centronics connector. To get proper pin # for LPT port side use the printer cable pinout (included below). Example: Step x signal: Centronics36 pin 3, LPT port pin 3. 6 Relay outputs can be set as 230VAC output (e.g for spindle) in wall-plug type connector mounted on the rear wall of the box.
