1 Administrative Guide Introduction This Administrator Guide provides all the details you ll need to receive log and audit data from your new product. 2 Safety Precautions Please read the following safety precautions carefully before using the product: Before cleaning, disconnect the product from any electrical power supply. Do not expose the product to excessive humidity or moisture. Do not store or use for extensive period of time in extreme thermal conditions it may shorten product lifetime. Install the product only on a clean secure surface. If the product is not used for a long period of time, disconnect it from electrical power. If any of the following situations occurs, have the product checked by a qualified service technician: o Liquid penetrates the product s case. o The product is exposed to excessive moisture, water or any other liquid. o The product is not working well even after carefully following the instructions in this user s manual. o The product has been dropped or is physically damaged. o The product shows obvious signs of breakage or loose internal parts. o In case of external power supply If power supply overheats, is broken or damaged, or has a damaged cable. The product should be stored and used only in temperature and humidity controlled environments as defined in the product s environmental specifications. Never attempt to open the product enclosure. Any attempt to open the enclosure will permanently damage the product. The product contains a non-replaceable internal battery. Never attempt to replace the battery or open the enclosure. This product is equipped with always-on active anti-tampering system. Any attempt to open the product enclosure will activate the anti-tamper triggers and render the unit inoperable and warranty void. 2

3 User Guidance & Precautions Please read the following User Guidance & Precautions carefully before using the product: 1. As product powers-up it performs a self-test procedure. In case of self- test failure for any reason, including jammed buttons, the product will be Inoperable. Self-test failure will be indicated by the following abnormal LED behavior: a. All channel-select LEDs will be turned ON and then OFF; b. A specific, predefined LED combination will be turned ON; c. The predefined LED combination will indicate the problem type (jammed buttons, firmware integrity). Try to power cycle product. If problem persists please contact your system administrator or technical support. 2. The appropriate usage of peripherals (e.g. keyboard, mouse, display, authentication device) is described in detail in this User Manual's appropriate sections. Do not connect any authentication device with an external power source to product. 3. For security reasons products do not support wireless keyboards and mice. In any case do not connect wireless keyboard/mouse to product. 4. For security r e a s o n s p r o d u c t s do n o t s u p p o r t microphone/line-in audio input. In any case do not connect a microphone to product audio output port, including headsets. 5. Product is equipped with always-on active anti-tampering system. Any attempt to open product enclosure will activate the anti-tamper system indicated by all CAC LEDs flashing continuously and host select LED will changing from host to host. In this case, product will be inoperable and warranty void. If product enclosure appears disrupted or if all channelselect LEDs flash continuously, please remove product from service immediately and contact technical support. 6. In case a connected device is rejected in the console port group the user will have the following visual indications: a. When connecting a non-qualified keyboard, the keyboard will be non-functional with no visible keyboard strokes on screen when using the keyboard. b. When connecting a non-qualified mouse, the mouse will be non-functional with mouse cursor frozen on screen. c. When connecting a non-qualified display, the video diagnostic LED will off and video will not work. d. When connecting a non-qualified USB device, CAC LED will off and USB device will be inoperable. 7. Do not connect product to computing devices: 3

4 a. That are TEMPEST computers; b. That include wireless communication equipment; c. That include frame grabber video cards; d. That include special audio processing cards. 8. Product has a remote control port in the back panel labeled DCU. Do not use this port with other device or it may make product inoperable. 9. Important! Before re-allocating computers to channels, it is mandatory to power cycle product, keeping it powered OFF for more than 1 minute. 10. If you are aware of any potential security vulnerability while installing or operating product, please remove product from service immediately and contact us in one of the ways listed in this manual. 11. The SKVM will default to Channel 1 (Port 1) on normal operations. 12. All devices connected to SKVM will be switch by group, no single device/part of devices switching allow, no independent device switching. 13. No wireless keyboard or mouse connect to SKVM 14. All user authentication session terminated when no power apply to Security KVM. 15. SKVM was equipped hardware device and firmware design (also circuity layout) that prevent data flow between computers. Only keyboard and mouse signal can send to computer thru USB connection, audio can pass thru one way from computer to speaker and CAC reader is on separated USB channel. 16. Holographic tampering labels provide visual indication of tampering, one on front and two on back of SKVM, Verify these labels if removed or disrupted, do not using these SKVM. The SKVM circuitry may have been compromised. 4

SKVM is designed for desktop or rack-mount configuration 2. All computers and SKVM on power off state 3. Connecting all devices as attached picture 4. Double check and make sure all connection secure 5. Power ON monitor first 6. Power ON the SKVM and wait host 1 LED turn on 7. Power ON first computer till it function OK 8. Select next host computer 8. Repeat above step till all computers turn ON Troubleshooting General 1. SKVM not turned ON Make sure power supply was plug on AC outlet Check power switch on extension power strip is ON 2. SKVM making noise and LED running from Host 1 to next Host than repeated a. Remove and re-installed power plug b. If noises continue, the SKVM may be tampered Note: This SKVM equipped with anti-tamper mechanism, any attempt to open the enclosure will activate the tampering mode and SKVM inoperable. 3. SKVM front LED flashing Make sure front panel keys are free to press without sticky 4. Cycle power of SKVM can purge memory and restore to factory default setting Video 1. No video on monitor 6

7 a. Checking video cable if correct or secure b. Check the LED on back of SKVM next to video port output connector, the LED should solid green, re-setting these cables if necessary Keyboard 1. Check USB cable if connected correct 2. USB or PS2 keyboard plug in but not working a. Need cycle power when keyboard plug in after SKVM power ON 3. All LED for number, Cap and insert lock not turn ON a. It was design as request for exploitation of keyboard state b. all function remain except no LED indication 4. Keyboard with composite device build in, only HID device can accept non-hid device will reject Mouse 1. Computer not detect mouse after cycle SKVM power a. Check USB cable if connected correct b. Need cycle power when keyboard plug in after SKVM power ON CAC reader 1. CAC reader not functioning a. Check the LED next to CAC output port if solid green if reader support, replace with other reader that SKVM support b. Check the USB cable if connect from SKVM to computer is correct Desktop Control Unit 1. Desktop Control Unit (DCU) not working after attached to SKVM a. Need cycle power when DCU attached after SKVM power ON 2. All LEDs flashing after cycle power a. Check if sticky key on DCU 3. LEDs flashing and Host LED running from first host to next host and continues a. The DCU may be tampered Note: This DCU equipped with anti-tamper mechanism, any attempt to open the enclosure will activate the tampering mode and DCU inoperable. 4. A tampered DCU can make SKVM inoperable 7

8 Audio 1. No audio heard after SKVM power up a. check if audio cable connected b. Replace defective audio cable if necessary c. Since it was no visual indication for audio cable connection correctness, checking directly connect speaker to computer for audio source is functioning.
