Short Operating Instructions AST Putting into operation / observe Operating Manual Page 7 Driving with aircraft The approval of the aircraft types which may be towed by AST is obtained in cooperation with the user of the tractors, the aircraft manufacturer and Goldhofer. Anyway, the user must observe and follow the directives of the aircraft manufacturer as given for instance in the Aircraft Facility Handbook with regard to the maximum steering angle as well as other specifications for aircraft towing. Only aircraft types with existing approval of AST may be moved by AST. (See also IMPORTANT INFORMATION ) Aircraft selection chart In case of correct aircraft selection, the PLC releases the drive. In case of incorrect aircraft selection (drive is not released), the driver must select the required aircraft and confirm. On the chart on the left side you can see the required aircraft selection of AST to tow an aircraft. Pick-up of aircraft Travel without load comes to an end after the operator has driven the AST under/in front of the aircraft nose. Before approaching the nose gear you must turn the seat to face the back and lower the loading platform to the ground. To pick-up the aircraft, the AST must be in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft (no cornering). The AST must be centered to the aircraft nose-gear, i.e. no lateral offset! To move the aircraft, the steering hydraulics of the aircraft must be de-activated. During the pick-up procedure, watch the working area carefully. Pick-up of the aircraft is only possible when the seat is turned to face the back.

Short Operating Instructions AST Putting into operation / observe Operating Manual Page 8 Pick-up of aircraft Worksteps 1. Turn the driver s seat to face the back 2. Lower the pick-up device - lift the white ring put the control lever 4.1 forward - pull arms are extended, swivel arms are open - pick- up device is on the ground, TDM displays platform is down - set the control lever 4.1 to NEUTRAL position 3. Select the required drive stage / aircraft and confirm - TDM displays select drive stage / aircraft - select the required drive stage with the arrow button 1, 2, 3 or 4 / aircraft S1 - AC4 - confirm the selected drive stage / aircraft with the confirmation button related to it. 4. De-activate the steering on the nose-gear of the aircraft and confirm the bypass-status on the AST. 5. Approach the nose-gear of the aircraft carefully until the aircraft tractor touches the nose-wheel. 6. Move the travel direction lever to NEUTRAL position 7. Bring the steering straight-ahead - Watch the steering position indicator The AST pulls itself with its pick-up device under the nose wheel of the aircraft. The pull arms are assisted by the drive during the pick-up of the aircraft. That is why the service and parking brake must not be actuated during the pick-up procedure. 8. Pick-up of aircraft - lift the white ring set the control lever 4.1 rearward - swivel arms close, pull arms are retracted - pick-up device is lifted to driving position - TDM signals that AST is ready for driving. The pick-up procedure is completed, when the message AST ready for driving is displayed on the TDM panel.

Short Operating Instructions AST Putting into operation / observe Operating Manual Page 9 Release of aircraft Worksteps: To release the aircraft, the AST must be in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft (no cornering). Before release of the aircraft, it must be secured against rolling. After release of the aircraft, the steering hydraulics of the aircraft must be activated. During release, the working area must be carefully watched. The AST pushes itself from under the aircraft: That is why the service and parking brake must not be actuated during the release procedure. 1. Turn the driver s seat to face the back 2. Set steering straight-ahead and release the brakes 3. Release of aircraft - Lift the white ring Put the control lever 4.1 forward - Pick- up device goes down, pull arms are extending - TDM displays platform is down - Set the control lever 4.1 to NEUTRAL position 4. Drive the aircraft tractor carefully forward Before lifting the pick-up device to no load driving position, drive away from the aircraft. 5. Lift the pick-up device to no load driving position - Lift the white ring Press the button in the lever (keep depressed during procedure) - Put the control lever 4.1 rearward - Swivel arms close, pull arms retract - the pick-up deviceis lifting to driving position - TDM displays AST ready to drive

Short Operating Instructions AST Emergency Operation / observe Operating Manual Page 10 Location, identification of controls / Emergency operation D = Normal driving position (Driving Position) E = Emergency position of controls (Emergency Release) In condition of emergency operation, the vehicle must be controlled and moved very carefully. Only after elimination of the fault, the vehicle may be operated again. Only after release of the aircraft, the AST may be towed off and operated with the emergency system for brake, emergency driving and steering. During operation of the AST with the emergency system for brake, emergency driving and steering, the AST should only be moved at walking speed. If the AST is not in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft, and an emergency release must be started, the AST may be moved in these exceptional cases by means of the emergency systems brake and steering to position the AST in alignment with the aircraft. After emergency operation all controls must be re-set to normal driving position. If the drive system or the electronic control fails, but the engine is still operatable, the AST can be braked and steered. General Survey of Controls / Emergency Operation 1 Emergency Release of Aircraft (pick-up device) 2 Emergency Release of Brake 3 Emergency Steering (option) 4 Controls for Electric Power Supply 5 Emergency operation Master Switch

Short Operating Instructions AST Emergency Operation / observe Operating Manual Page 11 Emergency Release of Aircraft Prior to the emergency release of the aircraft from the AST, the aircraft and the AST must be secured against rolling (wheel chocks under main gear of aircraft, parking brake of AST). For emergency release of the aircraft, the AST must be in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft (no cornering). During the emergency release procedure, everybody must keep out of the working area of the pick-up device. Risk of accident!!! Lowering of pick-up device: The AST must be able to roll during the emergency release. (See emergency release of brake, if necessary). 1. Secure the aircraft against rolling, put wheel chocks under main gear. 2. Open the panel and set the on/off valve (ZA17) to E 3. Set the 4-off on/off valve (ZA16) to E 4. The pick-up device is automatically lowered to the ground. The hydraulic cylinders of the pick-up device (locking cylinders, swivel cylinders and holddown) are de-activated. continued on the next side

Short Operating Instructions AST Emergency Operation / observe Operating Manual Page 12 Opening of swivel arms: Prior to the definite opening of the pull arms, secure the AST so that it cannot start rolling. Set the parking brake or place the wheel chocks. Only open the swivel arms after complete lowering of the pick-up device. One (1) manual spindle each is provided for each swivel arm (right and left, See fig.3 B). 5. Release the locking cylinders of the swivel arms (see fig. 3 items 1+2) See Fig. 3A - To insert the manual spindles stand outside of the vehicle. Risk of accident!!! Inserting the manual spindles (1) in the thread holes (2) releases the locking cylinders. Release one swivel arm after the other, you can choose the order. For unlocking, keep the manual spindles inserted. 6. Open the swivel arms - the pick-up device is open 7. Remove AST from aircraft Apply the service brake, then release the parking brake - Drive away, tow off Before the towing-off, lift the pick-up device by about 10 to 15 cm. See also the following pages.. After emergency operation and before operating the vehicle again, all controls and emergency release systems (manual spindles, etc.) must be set to driving position, or cleared away, respectively.
