2 BORRI B8000 FXS With disturbances to the electrical supply being one of the major causes of IT downtime, the UPS system is regarded as the most critical infrastructure device in the data centre. Interruption to electrical supply can cost organisations in excess of 100,000 per hour in lost revenues and productivity. The innovative design of the Borri B8000FXS makes it one of the most technologically advanced UPS of its kind. Exclusively developed by Borri, the FXS series delivers an advanced combination of low input current distortion, unity power factor input, high overall efficiency and maximum load protection ensuring ultimate power quality. This sophisticated arrangement of features make this series ideal for applications where reliability and high performance are fundamental. In addition, the FXS range comprises an IGBT input rectifier design with dual DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and µc (Micro Controller) technologies, which provides full digital control. The FXS configuration guarantees high quality output required by loads requiring a stable and clean source of power, whilst ensuring that auxiliary power supplies and processors are no longer single points of failure as with some other UPS Systems. VFI (Voltage & Frequency Independent) Online Double Conversion topology, provides built-in inverter galvanic protection, completely isolating the output of the UPS from mains power problems. 3 As the AC input is always converted to DC and then converted back to AC, the double conversion process provides complete electrical isolation of the output from the input, in fact unless the inverter is switched off the critical load will never see the raw mains power. Online Double Conversion Ultimate protection for all loads from computer rooms and small datacentres to industrial applications, the B8000FXS incorporates Online Double Conversion or VFI (Voltage and Frequency Independent) topology. In online double conversion mode the output voltage and frequency are constantly generated by the inverter and so are isolated from any input power disturbances, spikes, dips or outages. For maximum protection, the batteries are positioned in the conversion circuit to ensure there is no break or switching should the need arise for them to power the load. This technology allows for an extremely wide range of input voltage and frequency, whilst enabling the UPS to control perfect output conditions without having to use battery power. Enhanced Compatibility with Mains & Generators The B8000 FXS uses an IGBT input rectifier design, encompassing an advanced PFC (Power Factor Correction), which maintains input current THDi (Total Harmonic Distortion of the input) at a level of less than 3% and an input power factor within 1% of unity, even when only small loads are applied. 4 B8000FXS Main Features 3xL-N Online Double Conversion Topology Smart Online Function - 98% Efficiency UPS Block Diagram High Efficiency Dedicated to traditional UPS design, we know that a UPS operating in true online double conversion mode (VFI) offers a higher level of protection over Line Interactive (VI), or Offline (VFD) topologies. Historically this has resulted in poor operating efficiency, however, investment at component level in the design of B8000 FXS means that the FXS range, can perform with overall efficiency levels of greater than 95% through mid-range loadings. This impressive operational rating provides the user with true efficiency without compromise. > Overall efficiency in excess of 95% at half load running in full online double conversion mode. > Smart Online efficiency of up to 98% Ultra High Efficiency - Smart Online (SOL) Whilst we advocate that ultimate protection is only achieved with Online Double Conversion mode, we also understand that in some situations users will require ultimate efficiency. This mode significantly reduces energy consumption as the load is fed primarily through the bypass line. The SOL function continually monitors the input characteristics of the supply and the UPS switches to Inverter within 2mS should the control system experience any anomalies. This mode is perfect for achieving a reduced data centre PUE.

5 Parallel Offering parallel options for redundancy or capacity modes, the B8000 FXS can add future resilience or scalable growth. Up to 8 units can be connected in parallel giving a total scalable power output of 320kVA. The FXS series incorporates fully digital, parallel control circuitry and acts on both active and reactive power on each phase of the UPS outputs. This allows accurate load current sharing among the UPS units even during transient conditions. Parallel control is distributed between all units and communication is achieved through the use of a CAN BUS connection loop. This eliminates any single point of failure within the system and increases reliability. In the modular arrangement units can be added or removed whilst the system is supporting a load. The smart parallel function enables individual units to shut down based on the load applied, delivering optimum efficiency whilst maintaining redundancy. Two independent parallel systems can be synchronised to feed downstream STS for seamless transfers. > 8 units in parallel configuration (up to 320kVA) > Output synchronisation of separate parallel systems > Smart parallel with load based shutdown Mains Intelligent design of the system connections allow for easy installation and future additions without the need for a power down. Load Easy Installation, Operation and Maintenance The B8000FXS is designed with three individual power modules with access from the front for installation and maintenance. This means the units can be installed close to walls and adjacent equipment providing a significant reduction in floor space. As all critical components are accessible from the front of the unit, regular maintenance can be completed with ease. For increased flexibility, the B8000FXS modules can easily be removed for delivery and positioning. The modules can then be re-mounted during the commissioning.
