5 9/ Further particulars/explanatory notes Introduction This DALLIS I/O-card was designed to provide a transparent bidirectional path for different types of serial data streams using PCM audio channels. Thereby, data rates up to 00 kbit/s are supported. The serial data is sampled, packed as audio and handled by the routing system like a regular audio source. Audio sent into the router will be marked as non PCM audio to avoid undesirable noise when accidentally routed to an analog output. To avoid ground loops with non-audio equipment the serial ports are isolated to the system audio ground. Warning Always carefully set the port jumpers to the desired port mode. Some of these modes generate voltages that may damage connected equipment, when electrical formats do not match! Also the 9/ may be damaged when applying stresses beyond the allowed range per port mode! Supported system sample rates Some text passages refer to sample rates as basic condition with respect to certain parameters. Please note that in this regard fs= khz also comprises fs=. khz and fs= 9 khz also comprises fs=. khz. The manufacturer's tests at fs= khz or fs= 9 khz are designed to represent all sample rates. Grounding All ports have an individual isolated signal ground with respect to the DALLIS audio ground potential. Maximum offset voltage between any applied signal ground and DALLIS audio ground is ±0V. When connecting a 9/ input to an isolated output, the signal ground must be tied to chassis ground at one end to avoid floating.
