2 User instructions for the Safescan 255 Counterfeit Detector Thank you for purchasing the Safescan 255 false money detector. The Safescan 255 is a reliable, easy-to-operate, false money detector. It distinguishes counterfeit banknotes from genuine ones by viewing the infrared properties of banknotes. 1.0 General parts & control 1. Main housing 2. Infrared camera 3. lcd display 4. 3 2.0 Operations 1. After opening the box, place the machine on a flat table. Inspect the machine for any distortion or damage. 2. Plug the power adapter (enclosed) into the mains (AC V, 50/60Hz) and connect it to the power socket (10). 3. Press the [POWER] key (5) to power On the machine. 4. The LCD screen switches on. The device is now ready to check the infrared features of banknotes. 5. Place a banknote in front of the detector while looking on the LCD screen (3). 6. Check the image on the screen. See 2.1 for details. If necessary the image brightness and contrast can be adjusted with the brightness (8) and contrast (9) key. 7. Press [BLINK] key (6) to activate the blink function. This function makes holograms on banknotes visible. 8. Press [IRD] to switch off the blink function and return to checking the infrared properties. 9. Press [POWER] key (10) to power Off the machine. 10. An external display can be connected via the connector S2 (11) Tip: The Safescan 255 also has the possibility to quickly check the IR properties of multiple banknotes at ones. Simply hold a fan of banknotes in front of the device and check the image on the screen. This way checking the infrared features of multiple banknotes is possible within seconds. 4 2.1 Infrared banknote properties Infrared properties of genuine banknotes can easily be recognised. On the display of the Safescan 255 correct infrared printing of genuine banknotes is visible for designated areas only. Please see the example pictures below. 5 3.0 Maintenance The Safescan 255 is a low maintenance machine. For optimal lifespan make sure to power off the device after usage. Use only the power adapter enclosed The device powers on but the image on the LCD screen remains black The image settings are wrong Adjust the image settings with the [Brightness] key(8) and [Contrast] key(9) Warning: This product should be operated only from the power source enclosed in the box Don t place the machine in area s with high temperature or in area s with high humidity. This will cause leakages of electricity and a risk of electric shocks and may cause inaccurate counting When you have finished detecting banknotes, switch off the machine 5.0 WARRANTY Contact Safescan for assistance: This product is in compliance with the essential requirements and other relevant provisions of the applicable European directives.
