5 Laser Radiation ESD Overvoltage and Lightning Foreign Material Power Supply Ambient Temperature and Humidity Optical SFP modules employ a laser. Invisible laser radiation can be harmful for eyes. Do not stare to open connector. Due to the invisible laser radiation all necessary safety instructions must be followed during installation and maintenance operations of these modules. In a properly closed system the normal operation of these components does not cause any radiation danger. The safety requirements for class 1M lasers are detailed in EN Observe precautions for handling electrostatic sensitive devices. Ground yourself properly with an electrostatic discharge (ESD) trap. In order to protect the equipment against accidental damage is recommended that the server room is equipped with sufficient overvoltage and lightning protection. Ensure no foreign material can get inside the Luminato through vents or slots. Environmental Requirements The Luminatos power supply has an electrical screening of Class 1 and it is intended for indoor installation only. The unit is designed to operate in a location where the voltage is VAC, Hz. 6 Mechanics Rack Installation Installation Recommendations Luminatos dimensions are 1U x 19" and designed for standard 19" rack with a minimum deep of 385 mm. Reserve also space for cabling. Installation in open racks is recommended but if Luminato is installed in enclosed racks, special arrangements must be made to ensure adequate ventilation. Use always mounting rails when installing the Luminato in a rack. The Luminatos front flanges are only intended to lock the Luminato in place and not for installation purpose. Shelf Installation Stacking of Luminato Mechanical Loading Cooling The Luminato can also be installed on a stable shelf with enough free space in front and behind the unit for cooling needs. The Luminato units can be placed on each other but with a minimum of 100 mm space in front and behind the unit so cooling air can circulate freely. When Luminatos is placed on each other, you should also take into account the wiring to allow free access to the Power and Interface modules. Mount the Luminato properly to prevent uneven mechanical loading on the chassis. Incorrect installation can cause mechanical and electrical failures and as a result of these cause hazardous conditions. Installation of the equipment in a rack or shelf shall not restrict the airflow.
