3 1 Connecting the Nova CSMS hardware Mount Nova CSMS into your cabinet, and install all the sensors into the cabinet Port Section color Description Gray Network connection 1 Yellow Temperature / Humidity sensor 3 Green Card reader 4 Green Lock 7 Red Door sensor (front) 8 Red Door sensor (back) 9 Red Smoke detector 15 Blue Water detector Do not remove red plugs into the ports (see above drawing). Using these ports can damage Nova CSMS and / or sensors. These ports are for future functions. Mount Nova in a cabinet, save from excessive dust and with sufficient flow of air. Temperature (-10 C ~ +60 C) and humidity (20 ~ 90%) may not be out of range. The yellow temperature / humidity sensor cable must be installed isolated from Power cables (e.g. 110V / 230V / 400V). If you are using a yellow temperature / humidity sensor, only use supplied yellow sensor cable. Use of other (straight patch) cables will damage the sensor. If you are using a black temperature / humidity sensor, only use straight patch cable. KP_nova_TM_160501_EN 3

4 2 Setup Nova CSMS internet connection Nova CSMS needs a fixed wired connection to the internet. Otherwise there is no possibility to control Nova CSMS and your cabinet. Follow below steps to install your Nova CSMS and Android (>Android 4.3) or IOS application for your mobile device. Communication to the cloud service is made over a SSL Tunnel on port 80 NovaCloud is using port 9095 so the internal network has to allow connection to cloud1.novacloudsecurity.com: Local network settings Connect Nova to your laptop / PC with a Ethernet cable from Nova to your Ethernet connection on your laptop / PC. Nova uses a fixed IP address. Factory setting is Go to the network and sharing center of your laptop / PC and change the adapter settings of your Local Area Connection. Change IPv4 into a fixed IP in the range of xxx. Change it for example into Also change the Subnet mask into and save the changed settings. Browse via your laptop / PC to the Nova using the URL: The following page will be displayed: Change network settings according the settings of your local network. KP_nova_TM_160501_EN 4

5 Set the IP-, Netmask-, Default gateway- and DNS address. Press save and the Nova CSMS will be rebooted automatically. Wait about 5 minutes before Nova completed the reboot. Disconnect Nova CSMS from your Laptop / PC and connect the Ethernet cable to your network switch or network router. Change the IPv4 settings of your laptop / PC into the conventional settings (probably obtain an IP address automatically, so your laptop / PC is able to connect to internet again. For technical information when using SNMP please contact your distributor Get an activation key to obtain admin rights Browse to the Nova CSMS using the new IP address. In this example Open the tab Activate. Press the button Get key. When there is no internet connection, the following message will displayed Error - try again later or It is possible that the Nova is not ready yet after re-start. Otherwise, please check the internet connection or the changed IP address in Nova CSMS. Write down the activation key. Add the activation key into your Nova application to setup the connection between the mobile device and Nova. The generated key is valid for only 10 minutes. After this time you should generate a new key. We recommend that you download the Nova application on your Android or IOS device first (see chapter 3) KP_nova_TM_160501_EN 5

6 3 Installing and register the Nova application Open the Google Play App Store or the iphone App Store and search for the Nova Cloud Security application and download the app. Open the Nova application on your device. Press: Create account. o Enter account. o Password. o Repeat password. o Register (Registration successful: an activation link will be sent to your ). Click on the activation URL in your . You can now use this account to log in to the application. Log into the application. When the Nova CSMS is registered, the username and password of the administrator can be used to login again and change the settings. 3.1 add a cabinet Press at the top of the Nova application the symbol, to add a new cabinet. Add the activation key, generated in chapter Add the name of the cabinet. This must be a unique name. Add the location name of the cabinet. (e.g. city, floor, department etc. not needed to be unique) Press: accept. The cabinet is added to the application. Repeat the above steps to add another cabinet. With the symbol, you can remove a cabinet Cabinet overview Select at the bottom of the Nova application the symbol. Select a cabinet. All the details of the cabinet will be displayed here. Press on the values of the temperature / humidity sensor to change the warning levels. Press on smoke to check the status- and to reset the smoke detector. Press on door to check the door status and to release the door. Press on water to check the water detector status. Press to go back to the main screen. KP_nova_TM_160501_EN 6

7 3.1.2 User list Select at the bottom of the Nova application the symbol. Press on to add a new person who may control the cabinet with the application. This address should be of a registered user. If the user is not registered yet, they will receive an invitation. The user has to install the application on his device before he can control the cabinet. Give the user access (no yes) and press the invite button. With the symbol, you can remove a user Access Select at the bottom of the Nova application the symbol. Usable Accessibilities: only PIN, only card / tag, card / tag and PIN. Press on to add a new person who may have access the cabinet using a Nova tag / card. Add a Name. Hold the Nova tag / card against the reader. The card number will be filled in automatically. When using a PIN card reader you can add a PIN. PIN is not mandatory Add the cabinets to which this person may have access. Press the Save button. With the symbol, you can remove a tag or card Settings Select at the bottom the Nova application the symbol. Activate the Notification (alarm) button to receive push messages on your mobile device when an alarm has occurred. Activate the Notification (warning) button to receive push messages on your mobile device when a warning has occurred. The push messages will only be sent when the application is closed. 8 3.1.5 Alerts Select at the bottom of the Nova application the notifications are displayed. Press the button to dismiss all notifications. Green symbol: OK. Yellow symbol: Warning Red symbol: Alarm symbol. All the alarms- and Logout Press the (menu) button to logout. KP_nova_TM_160501_EN 8

9 4 Upload firmware into Nova Your Nova is provided with the latest firmware before leaving the factory. If there is a new firmware available, you can download it from the knowledge base of or the website of your supplier. Save the latest firmware on your laptop / PC. Browse on your laptop / PC to port 8081 of the Nova e.g. The above indicated IP address is an example. Use the real IP address of the Nova you want to update and add :8081 Username: root Password: iekp47 Select the new file(s) and press upload.
