6 COP-14: General Reflections Heavy international focus on the U.S. both good and bad Conservative approach from U.S. CoDel Agreement in Copenhagen is possible but in what form? Challenge to find more in-system money from countries during financial crisis

7 2009 Work Plan: Activities Engage in 2009 UNFCCC negotiations Define post-2012 policy priorities and develop positions papers on key Bali Plan of Action issues Build relationships and profile with Congress and new Administration through DC-based advocacy events and private meetings Monitor US engagement in Major Economies Process Monitor US government and World Bank efforts on Clean Technology Fund and Carbon Partnership Facility. Strengthen working relationships with other business groups and ICSE

8 2009 Work Plan: Priorities Next 3 months (Feb April) - Brainstorming sessions/briefings with Congressional staff on issues such as offsets, market design, etc - Reach out to Congressional Committees to provide hearing witnesses - Develop one-pagers on BCSE views on key building block issues - Explore technology workshop with EGTT in Bonn, Germany in June - Preparations for late March 2009 negotiations, Bonn, Germany Next 6 months (April - July) - Draft post-2012 paper, pending resources - Review draft texts and identify priority areas for advocacy Next 11 months (July - Dec) - Develop strategy to advance key priorities - Plan activities for Copenhagen, December 2009
