2 Danube Ports and the challenges ahead Approx. 70 ports along km of navigable river Danube Ports must be considered as catalysts for re-industrialisation and regional growth Danube Ports as focal points for European transport & regional policy Port of Constanta as main logistics hub and gateway Port of Constanta Freight transport on the entire Danube (2015) Project co-funded by European Union Funds (ERDF, IPA)

9 Danube Ports Network [DPN] DANUBE Ports Network (DPN) - part of the solution Through an enhanced regional port cooperation model. Danube Ports Network is a new actor in the Danube Region s Port Governance System. It acts as a regional coordination & collaboration platform involving public and private Danube port organisations. it provides a response to the need for a more coordinated and ambitious collective action to a range of sectoral and societal challenges increasingly impacting upon Danube Region s ports good governance & competitiveness. 9 Project co-funded by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA)

11 DPN Vision, Mission & Values Our vision To achieve a more dynamic, sustainable, state-of-the art network of ports in the Danube Region with a stronger and more coordinated voice at regional and EU level. Our Core Mission To become a long-term, sustainable structure contributing to good port governance and cooperation strengthening in the Danube Region. To work with and for the Danube Region s ports & terminals. 17 Danube Ports Network [DPN] Governance & Coordination Structure DPN is a network of autonomous organisations (public & private port organisations) governed by a Cooperation Agreement (not legally binding, entered into voluntarily, open-ended). The one -tier governance structure of the DPN consists of : Partners Forum (the plenary body), Advisory Group (responsible for the strategic management), Technical Secretariat (TS) (co-ordination & operational body). Depending on the issues tackled, ad-hoc working groups comprising selective partners, academia representatives etc. shall be constituted. Throughout its pilot operation and start-up phase (July 2019 June 2022) the TS will be hosted, managed and staffed by Pro Danube International (Lead Partner DAPhNE Project). 17 Project co-funded by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA)
