7 Smart Grid- Conceptual Reference model NIST responsible for the many pieces of "the world's largest and most complex machine" are able to work together. NIST identifies 75 standards Specifies 15 high-priority gaps and harmonization issues SGIP setup to provide an open forum in developing additional standards needed NIST- In all, it is anticipated that hundreds of standards will be required to build a safe and secure Smart Grid that is interoperable, end to end. 7
