3 Best Practices WSIS Prizes Special Tracks Partner With Us The Open Consultation process (OCP) aims at ensuring a participatory and inclusive spirit of the Forum. This process actively engages multistakeholders in the preparatory process to ensure broad ownership and further improvements of the Forum. The Open Consultation will include a collection of inputs from regional and national WSIS related events. The physical meetings of the Open Consultation will benefit from remote participation. The Open Consultation for the WSIS Forum 2018 is structured in five phases as follows: Launch of the OCP 19 September st Physical Meeting 20 December nd Physical Meeting 24 January 2018 Deadline for Submissions 30 January 2018 Final Brief 19 February 2018

5 Best Practices WSIS Prizes Special Tracks Partner With Us Open call for nominations for WSIS Forum 2018 Multi stakeholder High Level Track Facilitators Open Call for Major Stakeholder Coordination Mechanisms following the WSIS to Identify and Nominate High-Level Track Facilitators (HLTF) for the WSIS Forum 2018; At the WSIS Forum 2018, the High-Level Policy Sessions of the High-level Track (HLT) will take place on the 20 and 21 March. The main task of the HLTF is to capture the vision, Identify emerging trends, opportunities and challenges shared by the leaders of their session. The Policy Sessions will be moderated by High-Level Track Facilitators (HLTFs) nominated and identified by each stakeholder type i.e Government, Private Sector, Civil Society, Technical/ Academic community and International Organization. Each stakeholder type is invited to launch an Open Call to identify HLTF to represent their respective communities. Nominations should be submitted to the WSIS Secretariat at by 30 January 2018
6 Open Consultation WSIS Prizes Special Tracks Partner With Us WSIS Stocktaking: Call for Update and New Entries Publicly accessible WSIS Stocktaking database currently with plus entries and a growing community of stakeholders; UN General Assembly called for a close alignment between the WSIS process and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: WSIS Stocktaking is highlighting the contribution of 11 WSIS Action Lines to the achievement 17 SDGs; ECOSOC resolution 2016/22 reiterates the importance of sharing best practices at the global level, and encourages all stakeholders to submit ICT-related projects and initiatives to the WSIS Stocktaking platform. New Call for Submissions has been released in September 2017, and the newly submitted activities will be reflected in the WSIS Stocktaking Report 2018, which will be released at the WSIS Forum SUBMIT by 9 February 2018!
7 Open Consultation WSIS Prizes Special Tracks Partner With Us WSIS Forum 2018 Photo Contest: Call for New Entries Following the successful first edition in 2017, WSIS Forum continues to exercise the Photo Contest in 2018 and invite the community to picture how Information and Communication Technologies are playing an enabling role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Participate in building a collage of ICT for Sustainable Development photographs from around the world by promoting the Photo Contest within your networks and communities. The contest was launched on 11 September 2017 and will collect photos until 9 February The three winning entries in the WSIS photo contest will be awarded and presented at the WSIS Forum 2018.
8 Open Consultation Best Practices WSIS Prizes Special Tracks Partner With Us New Call for WSIS Prizes 2018 contest was launched in September 2017 inviting WSIS Community to submit ICTrelated projects and initiatives that also help advance SDGs. All WSIS Stakeholders are encouraged to SUBMIT their project descriptions to the WSIS Prizes contest from 11 September 2017 until 2 January Champions will be announced on 9 February 2018 while the Winners will be announced during the WSIS Prizes Ceremony at the WSIS Forum 2018 (19-23 March 2018). Five Phases of the Contest: Phase I Submission phase Phase II Nomination Phase Phase III Public Online Voting 11 September January January 12 January January 4 February 2018 Phase Phase IV IV Submissions deadline Selection of Winning Projects by the Expert Group 20 February February 9 February 2018 Phase V Public Final announcement review meeting of winners during 14 March 2017 WSIS Prize 2018 Ceremony
9 Open Consultation Best Practices WSIS Prizes Partner With Us Virtual Reality for SDGs Pursuing a first partnership in 2016, WSIS and World VR Forum join forces to be at the forefront of Virtual Reality for advancing development. A shiny new Virtual Reality Track will be held at the WSIS Forum 2018 bringing together high-level personalities, world class VR experience and a very special focus on education. TEDxGeneva After a successful debut at WSIS Forum 2016 AND 2017 TEDxGeneva and the WSIS Forum bring you to the crossroads of our fast-changing society- -the crossroads of technology acceleration, human tradition, artificial intelligence, and an interconnected world. Hackathon As a continuation of the discussions initiated at the 2016 WSIS Forum, first ever Hackathon was held successfully in 2017 on e-health. Next year a Hackathon on ICTs for SDGs focusing on End Hunger will be held at the WSIS Forum We invite all interested coders to participate in the WSIS Hack Against Hunger.
