15 CSA Implementation Task Force Resolution Develop a roadmap, based on ISO EnMS as a framework, for enterprises to achieve their energy performance improvement objectives. Key stakeholders such as utility companies, industry and service associations, & various levels of government are expected to provide active support. Initially, CIPEC will provide stewardship & guidance.

16 Canadian Industrial Program for Energy Conservation CIPEC What is CIPEC? Voluntary industry-government partnership established to improve Canada s industrial energy efficiency. What is CIPEC s role? To promote greater energy efficiency, recognize and reward those who lead the way. How do we do it? By working hand-in-hand with industry to encourage sectors to invest in, develop and use methods and industrial processes that are more energy efficient. Who do we work with? Industrial facilities, industry leaders, other government departments, associations, utilities, service providers.

19 Energy Ministers Conference July 2011 Federal, provincial and territorial energy ministers support a collaborative approach to energy at their annual meeting in Alberta: "Collaboration will put us in a better position to harness our energy potential, grow our status as an environmentally responsible energy supplier and user "Efficient Energy Use improve industrial energy performance by adopting the ISO international energy management standard"

20 Global Superior Energy Performance (GSEP) International network of governments that foster continuous energy performance improvements Partnership includes Canada, the European Commission, France, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Sweden and the U.S Will provide industrial facilities with a framework for achieving continual energy performance improvements while enhancing competitiveness a globally accepted approach for verifying energy performance improvements and management practices

22 GSEP Participation Canada is a participant under the Global Superior Energy Partnership Initiative and is committed to sharing information as a member of the GSEP Certification Working Group. 3 GSEP/ISO Pilot Projects are in progress to support the development and implementation of the ISO Energy Management Standard.

23 GSEP Participation (continued) These projects are: A pilot project with the Ontario Power Authority to help 5 Ontario manufacturing facilities successfully implement the ISO energy management. A U.S. Canada pilot program with global technology firm 3M to identify energy performance improvements and to develop and implement actions to maximize energy performance in a Canadian plant. A buildings pilot project to test the implementation of the standard for energy management in one of Natural Resources Canada buildings.
