4 HOW WE BECAME WHAT WE ARE, AND WHO WE ARE TODAY. BENEFIT FROM OUR EXPERIENCE Fritz Deckel founds his company Feinmechanik GmbH in Weilheim. Initially the company produces injection nozzles, precision vices and helix clamps, followed later by centring testers and the Deckel single-lip cutter grinder S0, a real classic: almost 30,000 of them have been sold so far. As early as in the 1960s the factory is extended, adding a new production building. For the emerging plastics industry, Deckel develops the S0E, which offers enhanced precision. The S11 universal grinder makes Deckel a technical leader in the manufacturing of tool grinding machines. Up until today, around 2,500 of these machines have been sold. In 1980, the company moves into a modern office building. Michael Deckel takes over the management of the company. The manufacturing facilities are completely modernised. With the S12 tool grinding machine, the company enters the CNC business. Deckel designs its first five-axis CNC tool grinding machine, the S20-CNC. In the early 1990s, the company is recovering from a serious economic crisis. Michael Deckel hands over the management to Willi Standke, Dr. Valentin Mauderer and Bernd Wöhr, who, at the same time, join the company as coshareholders. By this time, over 100 motivated employees are working for Deckel both at its Weilheim headquarters and at subsidiaries operating in the UK and in the US.

BENEFIT FROM OUR EXPERIENCE TODAY Machine automation is becoming increasingly important, with innovative solutions being in great demand in the market. So Deckel designs the S22P with a chain loader. The extremely versatile FLEXUS Duo heavy-duty grinding centre with its grinding and loading modules is designed specifically for producing inserts and sets new design standards, while the Economic S20E and S22E series focus on cost effectiveness. Italy becomes the most important export market: Deckel Italia is being founded in 2003 near Milan to extend the sales radius. The German-speaking colleagues working there fit perfectly into Deckel s sales team. Turbulent years for Deckel: the company is expanding into Asia, there are management changes. Nevertheless, a lot of new machine concepts are being created. The FLEXUS is developed into the FLEXUS Invader, while the FORTIS as a low-cost machine is specifically intended for newcomers to the industry. Automation solutions include the deployment of robots an efficient extension for machines such as the S20 + using the RC1250 or the S22 + with the RC1900. The company is off to a flying start: with its new name ISOG, a changed logo and under new management. This draws a clear line under the hard times of the past. Customers notice the difference immediately. This is also because the in-house communication has been stepped up and the service activities broadened.

6 THE WIND 0F CHANGE IS BL0WING. This is reflected by new solutions: In addition to the proven NUM control system, we now have the FANUC control (with a better service structure, warranted long-term after-sales service, and with faster and more precise execution of grinding jobs, etc.) and the Air runout optimator, or RLO Air for short, for the S22 NFX +. And what is absolutely new is a chain loader for our S20 F31 + which can manage random loading and does not need to be fitted to the machine.

7 CNC GRINDING CENTRES 65 YEARS INNOVATION AND PRECISION S20 F31 + Depending on its configuration, the S20+ can be designed so as to ideally meet the demands in the resharpening environment but also in tool production even for smallest tools. S22 Series Top performance and supreme grinding efficiency are the hallmark of the S22. They form the basis for cost-efficient production and resharpening of precision tools and for the machining of complex and highly precise parts and components. FLEXUS Invader The FLEXUS Invader offers enhanced universality all over the entire tool spectrum and is suitable for very small to high production volumes. Its strength lies in the complete processing of inserts.
