8 Monitoring and evaluation PEG M&E Tool: tool for monitoring and evaluating process, effectiveness and gaps in the formulation and implementation of NAPs Set metrics for process, input, output, outcome, and impact : Process: coordinating body with sufficient authority and resources; technical bodies for the key NAP areas with sufficient capacity and resources etc. Output: reports and documents about policy, strategy and planning, or assessment reports; databases on climate data, socio-economic data, climate scenarios Impact: Awareness and understanding of climate risks and vulnerabilities as well as adaptation options have increased and are high on the agenda etc. To be published prior to COP20

9 Support to the NAP process in LDCs Information paper on how NAP process can be supported in LDCs Contains ideas on: Available support to the LDCs for NAPs (financial, technical); Sample activities for a NAP process, and the flow of information along a sample NAP process; Accessing technical support for the NAP process; Possible proposal for accessing funding under the LDCF; Bundling of activities to target other sources of funding, such as bilateral programmes, readiness and preparatory support under the GCF, other multilateral programmes, as well as the private sector. Timeline: Final review stage before publication

10 Synergy Technical paper on regional synergy in adaptation planning and implementation Benefits of regional synergy: Promoting joint efforts; Broadening the knowledge base; Encouraging cooperation between regional bodies and partner institutions; Providing the opportunity to share costs and pool resources; Avoiding negative transboundary impacts; Sharing experiences, approaches, solutions or strategies; Promoting adaptation at regional and sub-regional levels. A technical paper on synergy among multilateral environment agreements is also being revised

11 Gender and vulnerable communities Publication: Strengthening gender-related considerations in adaptation planning and implementation in the Least Developed Countries Key recommendations include: a) Inclusion of gender considerations in all stages of the process. b) Acknowledgement of national and international laws and policies in relation to gender equality in the NAPs c) National institutions to attach more priority to gender consideration in risk analysis d) Understanding the differences in vulnerability and adaptive capacity between women and men A paper on strengthening considerations regarding vulnerable communities is to be developed

Pacific LDCs (Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Vanuatu) ii. To also include experts from Pacific non-ldcs to facilitate sharing of experiences and to promote South-South Collaboration
