2 Session 1 - The response to the crisis: removing barriers and unleashing growth in services Ariane Kiesow Centre for European Policy Ariane Kiesow is a policy analyst at the Centre for European Policy (CEP), Ariane specializes in financial services and telecommunications. Holds diploma in economics from Freie Universität Berlin and School of Business, Stockholm University. The CEP (Centre for European Policy) is the EU-political think tank of the foundation Stiftung Ordnungspolitik. It evaluates the EU s relevant political projects and develops strategies for the economic policy of the EU. Helena Raud Cybersecurity coordinator Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication Helena Raud is a cybersecurity co-ordinator for Estonia, working for Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication. Helena has 10 years of experience in defence planning and consultancy. Re-profiled to cyber security following the 2007 attacks against Estonian private and government sites. Co-founder and Board Member of the European Cyber Security Initiative, an NGO that has taken to heart developing a virtual environment for conducting strategic level cyber exercises. An academic, with an interest in technology dependence, relations between innovation and economic development and the role of governance. Today Helena leads the work on the new Estonian Cyber Security Strategy for the period
3 Olivier Burgersdijk Head of EC3 Strategy, Prevention and Outreach Europol After finishing university education (Master s degree in Criminology, University of Leuven, Belgium) Olivier Burgersdijk joined the serious and organized crime department of the Rotterdam-Rijnmond police force ( ), where was active in the areas of conducting evaluations on major criminal investigations into serious and organised crime. From 2001 to 2006 supported as consultant various regional police forces and prosecution services in the Netherlands. From 2006 till present active within Europol in different functions with responsibilities for information exchange with non-eu States; product management of all operational information management products and services; management of the implementation of EU policies related to information management, including the Swedish initiative, Prüm helpdesk and the principle of availability; supervision of the Europol led action points under the EU Council Working Party on Information Exchange and Data Protection (DAPIX). Since November 2012 Head of Strategy within the European Cybercrime Centre with responsibility for strategic analysis, outreach, expertise, R&D, specialised forensic tools & techniques. 3
4 Session 2 - Keeping up with innovation: maximising the economic effects for business and consumers Jörgen Samuelsson Deputy Director Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications Chair of Management Board of ENISA Jörgen Samuelsson is a deputy director at the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications, among others, responsible for international cooperation in the area of network and information security, management of continuity issues concerning the Swedish Internet Top Level domain ".se", handling EU legislative dossiers like the ENISA and the proposed regulation on "eid and other trust services (eidas)". In Jörgen Samuelsson held a post of a counsellor for information society, telecommunication and postal services at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union. During Swedish Presidency, the chairman of the Council Working Party for Telecommunication and Information Society. Jörgen Samuelsson holds university degree in European procedural law and Swedish law. In February 2013, unanimously elected as a Chair of Management Board of European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). Mats Nilsson Director, Ericsson representing the European Telecommunications Standards Institute Mats Nilsson is a well known industry veteran with more than 25 years of front line experience in mobile communications. As one of the fathers of 3G Mats was engaged in the evolution of mobile communications through positions as director for technical strategy, vice president for standards and industry relations and lately ( ) Brussels based VP and head of European affairs for Ericsson. Also pivotal in the device and applications aspects of mobile communications through being CEO of the open mobile terminal platform initiative and as head of Ericssons multimedia portfolio. Since 2011 with main focus on cybersecurity issues and leading Ericssons engagements on all issues related to cybersecurity, including policy, regulation, product offerings and technology leadership. European Telecommunications Standards Institute is an independent, non-profit organisation, with 25 years of experience of pursuing its mission to produce globallyapplicable ICT standards. Regulary published white papers on security for ICTs (latest in January 2013). 4
5 Florian Walther Chaos Computer Club Florian Walther was born in 1977, lives in Berlin, and works as an independent IT security consultant. Florian Walther has over a decade of experience in practical computer and network security. Before working as an independent security professional and consultant Mr. Walther was working as Penetrationtester for a number of internationally well respected IT-security companies. He was involved in testing the IT-security of numerous systems of a wide range of purposes and sizes world-wide. Florian Walther has successfully proofed security vulnerabilities in critical infrastructures as well as digital identity documents, industrial manufacturing streets, medical devices, financial networks as well as embedded devices. In this role Florian Walther also has worked on different cyber-crime cases and conducted forensic investigations after security incidents involving IT-systems. The Chaos Computer Club (CCC) is Europe's largest association of hackers. The CCC advocates more transparency in government, freedom of information, and the human right to communication. Will Semple is an accomplished information security professional qualified by 15+ years of experience in government and financial services. Will Semple s international consulting experience at both a strategic and operational level has allowed him to develop as a subject matter expert in Security and Threat Operations with substantial knowledge and expertise in network security. Will Semple New York Stock Exchange Euronext Will currently leads the Security and Threat Operations Centre for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Under Will s leadership a threat and vulnerability management (TVM) Team has been created. Building on the tradition of excellence in enterprise security monitoring and information security found in the NYSE. Will has applied proven frameworks for operating and continually improving the maturity of the security operations centre capability, adapting and evolving to the threat faced by the financial services industry. Combining the tried and trusted principles of information security with individual thought leadership and innovative approaches to new challenges Will Semple, his team and his colleagues strive to deliver an industry leading service to the business and his customers. 5
