14 EIDA Integration Platform Models Model 1 Direct Access to Life Events Update Services In this model external person profile entities that own profile data (data owners) will have direct access to EIDA s Enterprise Integration in order to consume life event services. 16 Ankabut Project The Ankabut Project is the UAE Advance Network for Research and Education. In August 2006 the initiative was founded by Khalifa University, Institute of Applied Technology, United Arab Emirates University, Zayed University and Higher Colleges of Technology. In 2009 the ICT Fund and Khalifa University jointly funded the project. Ankabut provides members a wide range of services for the UAE academic and research community. Ankabut is focused on understanding its users requirements and offering services that meet their specific needs. 16

20 UAE Federal E-government Strategy ( ) The Federal egovernment Strategy ( ) adopted by the Council of Ministers aims at establishing a world-class federal egovernment to work with the federal government agencies to build an effective and reliable IT infrastructure and provide electronic services to customers via innovative and multiple electronic channels in line with the UAE Vision 2021 and the strategy of the Government of the United Arab Emirates ( ). "Enhance the competitiveness of the UAE by adopting world class practices in all areas of egovernment." 20

21 Dot Arab Project Dot Arab Project is considered another key milestone to the Arab Region In Feb 2012, UAE won the consent from he League of Arab States to provide technical advice for the Arab gtld project 1. aeda will provide support on the review and submission of the application to ICANN. 2. Develop necessary policies governing the Arab gtld 3. Operate and Mange in favor of League of Arab States 21

22 Smart Learning Investing in the Human Factor Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched a AED1bn ($272m) initiative to improve technology in the UAE's schools. The program, which will cover all the schools across the country, will be implemented over a period of five years. The drive aims to create a new learning environment in schools, through introducing "smart classes" in all schools, providing every pupil with a tablet PC and high speed 4G networks. The initiative also envisages specialized training programs for teachers and new scientific support curricula The project will be implemented through cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority as well as direct follow-up by the Prime Minister's office. 22

23 FedNet Federal Network Project Currently, there are 42+ Federal Ministries and Authorities that are independent in terms of ICT infrastructure. Each entity is connected separately to a telecom operator for Internet connectivity and telephony services. All the federal services are hosted in different data centers. After assessment, it was clear that a secure common Infrastructure need to be established to provide managed services to all federal government entities. Such Infrastructure will provide Government to Government (G2G) connectivity, Government to Consumer (G2C) in addition to other managed services. 23
