10 SESAR Objectives A consistent, focussed and user-driven project. Ambitious but realistic objectives for the European ATM infrastructure: Triple capacity Reduce by 50% ATM costs Increase safety by a factor of 10 10% reduction of environmental impact per flight A European project with worldwide reach

11 SESAR Develop and implement the key technologies and operations that will sustain European air transport growth Rationalise efforts into a consistent work programme Provide consistency between R&D and implementation, through SES Legislation.

12 SESAR 3 phases > Definition Development Deployment Define the different technological steps, programme priorities and operational implementation plans. Develop new equipments, systems or standards, through defined and coherent R&D activities; Deploy the new system through a large scale production and implementation of the new ATM infrastructure.

26 All ATM research is expected to be under the authority of the SESAR JU. New R&D projects will be fully aligned with the ATM Master Plan, and geared towards implementation ATM research activities On-going (TREN-FP6) projects are expected to be aligned with SESAR or terminated. The JU will support the Commission on the technical management of DG-TREN FP6 projects The JU will be in charge of coordination with other (non ATM) R&D.
