4 WRI BUILDING EFFICIENCY INITIATIVE Our vision: Buildings are solutions for cities of the future. Productive, actively managed buildings can integrate and improve multiple systems (energy, water, waste, transportation) to sustainably deliver urban services. We advance solutions through four areas of work: 1. Convening city-scale public-private collaboration for efficiency policies and projects; 2. Testing scalable business and finance models for sustainable approaches to urban services; 3. Encouraging practices to improve building performance information and its transparency; 4. 27 Mission Statement: UNEP: Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative UNEP-SBCI is a public-private partnership that works to promote sustainable building policies and practices worldwide, with a special focus on buildings and climate change. The initiative develops tools and strategies to support policymakers at local, regional and national levels. Partners, including key public and private stakeholders in the building sector contribute to the initiative s work and guide development of its tools and strategies. Stated Goals of the Initiative: 1. Provide a common language to allow international cooperation on sustainable buildings. 2. Develop tools, methodologies and data that help to identify barriers and enabling measures to wider adoption of sustainable buildings worldwide. 3.
