Introduction of GGGI : History Global Green Growth Institute(GGGI) is an independent, international nonprof it organization dedicated to supporting the new model of economic dev elopment, Green Growth I will ensure that GGGI will evolve into a permanent common asset of the international community by 2012 The Creation of GGGI announced by President Lee Myung-Bak at the UNFCCC COP-15 GGGI is launched at the East Asia Climate Forum Opening of GGGI Copenhagen Office Opening of GGGI Abu Dhabi Office Copenhagen December 2009 Seoul June 2010 Copenhagen May 2011 Abu Dhabi July, Introduction of GGGI: Major Activities Country Projects GGGI prov ides and f acilitate technical and f inancial support to assist emerging and dev eloping countries in their endeavors to establish their own green growth strategies that are f easible and well-aligned with other national economic and climate change related goals Research GGGI pursues research to advance the theory and practice of green growth, drawing particularly f rom the experiences of the stakeholders and experts with which we work at international and local lev el Capacity Building GGGI supports enhancement of developing countries capacity to sustain their drive for green growth Public-Private Partnership GGGI assists in the mapping of various potential f unding sources and f acilitate contact among partner governments and potential f unding agencies 3 2

5 Component 2: Country Selection Project Component 2 will select three countries based on the Country Selection Methodology which will be dev eloped to prov ide an objectiv e assessment and selection of countries where GGGI s involvement can best synergize the countries green growth (November 2011 April 2012) Phase 1 Country Selection Phase 2 Country Engagement Phase 3 Program Scoping Develop a country selection methodology Use the methodology to identify 6 candidate countries Deeper assessment of 6 countries Select 3 priority countries to visit Visit 3 countries and validate preliminary assessment Identify local stakeholders and develop an action plan with them 8 Identify the scope of GGGI involvement in each country Elaborate project application documents for Component 3 Develop a knowledge management plan 8 Component 2: Country Selection Project Phase 1: Ov erv iew of the Country Selection Methodology 9 5
