OPENAIRE FP7 POST-GRANT OPEN ACCESS PILOT Alternative Funding Bid No 10. Hungarian Educational Research Journal (HERJ) Presenter: Laura Morvai University of Debrecen University and National Library Managing Editor of HERJ
HUNGARIAN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH JOURNAL (ISSN: ) Focusing on actual ideas and themes in educational research Its mission is to promote emerging researchers and established scholars in exchanging their results, views and opinions HERJ publishes thematic issues - research papers and book reviews four times a year (March, June, October, December) Double-blind peer-reviewed - APC free It is a publication produced entirely by academic services and volunteer work
DUPRESS, MÉTISZ, DEA HERJ is published by: Debrecen University Press (DUPress), a Department of the University Library Métisz: It is a software which is capable of online editing and publishing academic journals Aims: to help to raise the visibility of journals edited by university departments and academic associations and raise the indexing of the journals by ensuring digital publishing Métisz is able to support the online publishing parallel with or without the printed version to help to manage the whole editing and publishing lifecycle including online archiving of the old issues to transport the articles to DEA easily and rapidly DEA University of Debrecen Electronic Archive Institutional repository of the University of Debrecen
TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS TO BE PERFORMED ON THE JOURNAL/PLATFORM 1. Becoming harvested by OpenAIRE M Implementing ORCID M Producing XML versions M Further development: Advanced statistics M4-6
1. BECOMING HARVESTED BY OPENAIRE Depositing articles with metadata into OpenAIRE compatible repositories (DSpace) allows access to materials with article level description through OAI-PMH protocol The articles will be uploaded through sword v2 protocol, thus the metadata, which might change, will be transferred to the repository Due to this improvement more metadata can be provided and Sword v2 protocol will be implemented Storing and handling data of articles takes place in Métisz system (in-house-built platform) Data are transferred to DSpace using SWORD protocol in order to provide OpenAIRE compatibile OAI-PMH harvestability Presently some manually induced test uploads can be found in DSpace from HERJ journal, but SWORD export and the metadata completion in Métisz is still to be carried out In DSpace system there are administrative tasks to be carried out as well as creating an OpenAIRE compatible OAI SET for the journal HERJ
2. IMPLEMENTING ORCID The ORCID identifier of the authors (if they have one) will be recorded in the metadata of the articles, thus the identifier will be available in the repository through OAI-PMH, as well A database is going to be created in Métisz where the authors and their ORCID identifiers can be stored The ORCIDs will be exported to qdc field through SWORD transfer 3. PRODUCING XML VERSIONS With the development, articles will be published in an xml format (e.g. JATS) which is a widespread computer-interpretable format. The format description will be prepared in the planning period. Métisz system will create the XML version from the text and metadata of the articles that the authors have uploaded
4. FURTHER DEVELOPMENT: ADVANCED STATISTICS Besides browsing the issues of the journal, our goal is to prepare and provide access to article level statistics The aim of the development is to prepare aggregated statistics about the local downloads from the repository besides measuring the individual usage of volumes/issues A computer interface will be built connecting the journal and the repository with the intention to provide statistic data DSpace uses Solr to store statistic data A webservice will be developed for DSpace that will enable Métisz to query statistical data The collected data will be displayed on the platform of Métisz In addition, web statistics will be developed for Métisz that will store and display the statistic data
MONITORABILITY - BECOMING HARVESTED BY OPENAIRE Technical development is ready Depositing articles with metadata into OpenAIRE compatible repositories (DSpace): ::d43ab110ab2 489d6b9b2caa394bf920f Testing phase: 5 articles on the harvastable list rds&metadataprefix=oai_dc&set=col_2437_ Waiting for harvesting Next step: to upload articles of old issues to the system with the new metadata dataset Number of current articles: 5

MONITORABILITY - IMPLEMENTING ORCID A database is created in Métisz where the authors and their ORCID identifiers can be stored The ORCIDs are exported to qdc field through SWORD transfer
