3 Introduction When changing systems and network instruments for whatever reason, it may be necessary to migrate the SQL-based Eclipse.net data from one server to another. This document describes the recommended method of database migration when an update from has been implemented. Prerequisites In order to carry out this task, the following requirements must be fulfilled: SQL Server 2008 (Express or full edition) installed and running Eclipse.net installed and fully operational Backing up SQL 2005 Database 1. Open SQL Server Management Studio and log into the SQL 2005 instance that the Eclipse.net database is running under. 2. Expand the database tree from the Object Explorer panel and right-click on the Eclipse.net database, selecting Tasks / Backup. The following window is then displayed. 4 3. Within the Back Up Database (general) window, ensure that the following conditions are met: Backup type set to Full Backup component set to Database Destination set to Disk 4. Click Add and select a destination to save the backup to. 5. Once the backup location has been specified, click the OK button and the backup will be created. Note: It may take several minutes for SQL Server Management Studio to complete the backup process. Restoring Database into SQL Open SQL Management Studio and log into the SQL Server 2008 instance that it is intended the Eclipse.net database will be served from. 2. Right-click the Database node from the Object Explorer panel and choose Restore Database from the context menu that will appear. 3. Within the Restore Database (general) window, type in the name for this database; this name will be used to configure the Eclipse.net server later. 4. Select the From device radio button before browsing to the folder where the Eclipse.net backup was saved and select the file for restoring. 5. Click the OK button to initiate the restoration of the Eclipse.net backup into SQL Micro Librarian Systems LTD Page 4 of 6 Support:

5 Give the database a name in this field. Select this radio button. Click the... button to browse for the backup file. Click this button to begin the restore process. Note: It may take several minutes for the SQL Server Management Studio to complete the restore process. For more detailed information on restoring an Eclipse.net backup file, please use the Restoring Eclipse.net Backup document - available here. Configuring Eclipse.net for SQL Server 2008 Follow these instructions to configure the Eclipse.net server to work with the new SQL 2008 instance and your newly restored database backup. 1. Open the Eclipse.net Server Configuration tool from Start / All Programs / Micro Librarian Systems / Tools / Configure on the Eclipse.net/IIS server. 2. Click on the Database tab. 3. Enter the new connection information for SQL Server Click on the Test Connection button to ensure the settings are valid and working. Micro Librarian Systems LTD Page 5 of 6 Support:

6 Use the combo box to select SQL Server 2008 from the list. Enter the correct machine name and instance for the SQL service. Type in the name of the Eclipse.net database (restore name). 5. After confirming the configuration details are correct, click on the Save button. Note: It may take several minutes for Server Configuration to complete the saving process. 6.
