Integration with Toad Intelligence Central (TIC) Toad Data Point Professional is part of the Toad Business Intelligence Suite, which includes a Toad Intelligence Central (TIC) server and Toad Decision Point, a tool for end-users. Please visit the Toad Business Intelligence Suite product page for more information about this exciting suite of tools. Note: This feature is available in the Toad Data Point Professional edition only and requires access to a Toad Intelligence Central server. Publishing Objects to Toad Intelligence Central You can now publish an object to TIC when the object's data source is also a TIC instance. The object data source can be the same or a different TIC instance as the destination. Publishing now supports queries that use non-ansi OUTER JOINS. Publishing supports queries that contain a single line comment using two hyphens (--). Publishing Automation Scripts to Toad Intelligence Central This release includes an exciting new enhancement: You can now publish Automation scripts to an Intelligence Central server. This can be an easy way to share Automation scripts with other Toad users. It is also a great way to offload work from your desktop computer. By publishing your scripts to TIC, you can offload that work to the TIC server freeing your desktop for other Toad activities or scripts Quest Software, Inc. 1 All Rights Reserved

2 Features of this new enhancement include: You can use the same procedure for publishing Automation scripts to TIC as you use for publishing data objects to TIC. With a script open in the Automation window, click Publish in the Wizard bar. In the Publish to Intelligence Central dialog, specify a folder, name, and scheduling options for your script. To help ensure that the script runs successfully in the TIC environment, Toad allows you to test run the script during the publishing process. Once published, you can test the script s database connections at any time. Toad provides detailed information about scripts on TIC. Right-click a script in the Object Explorer and select View Details. You can view the database and FTP connections, the location of the script on TIC, script execution logs, and connection test results Quest Software, Inc. 2 All Rights Reserved

3 Toad allows you to manage Automation scripts in the same way you manage other objects on TIC. You can schedule scripts, disable or lock them, specify sharing options, move scripts between folders, and add tags for better filtering. Scheduling Scripts: On TIC, scripts are scheduled using the Toad Scheduler component instead of the Windows scheduler. This new enhancement resolves the issues caused by using the Windows scheduling tasks. You can find additional information in the online Help about how to use these features, how to prepare your scripts for execution in the TIC environment, and how to troubleshoot any issues that might arise. Toad embeds Toad files, such as Toad Data Reports and Export templates, and SQL files, such as Query Builder and.sql files, into the published Automation script for ease of use. Note: Published scripts in TIC cannot be opened and modified at this time. From within Toad, you can easily access the execution logs for Automation scripts running on TIC. In the Object Explorer, right-click a script and select View Details. You can create custom folders in the Object Explorer for your Automation scripts and move scripts between folders. 4 Toad Data Point - Base and Professional Editions The Base and the Professional editions of Toad Data Point contain the following new features and enhancements. Automation Select To File Activity You can once again specify advanced options for an Excel file to which you want to export data using the Select To File activity. Click the Advanced Properties button in the Activity Input tab. Easily Migrate Scheduled Scripts Now you can easily migrate your scheduled scripts when you upgrade to a new version of Toad. Upon initial launch the new version, Toad prompts you to migrate the scheduling tasks for your scheduled scripts Quest Software, Inc. 4 All Rights Reserved

5 If you do not migrate your scheduling tasks during initial launch, you can migrate them at any time through the Job Manager. Data Management Data Grid Pivot Grid: The Pivot Grid can now support very large tables with a large number of rows. Database Administration Object Explorer The Generate SQL statement/script sub-menu now has a new option, Append To Editor. Use this command to add the generated SQL statement or script to the Editor at the location of your cursor within the Editor pane. In addition, the Generate SQL sub-menus have been reorganized. Select the type of statement you want to generate, then select the script destination. With SQL Server connections, the Tables tab now includes a Last Updated column. To display the column, right-click a column header and select Options Extra Columns Last Updated. Object Management With SQL Server connections, when detaching a database, Toad now includes the "SET SINGLE_USER" syntax in the script to put the database in single-user mode Quest Software, Inc. 5 All Rights Reserved

6 With SQL Server connections, in the Alter Table dialog, the Columns page now supports multi-select on columns. Ctrl + click to select multiple columns. Then click the UP or DOWN arrows to move all selected columns. When generating execution script for the stored procedures to the Editor, = statement is added for each declared parameter. This is handy when you have a lot of parameters declared and need to set them all manually. Just input parameter values without having to type SET statement every time. Connection Manager Toad Data Point now supports the 64-bit version of the Oracle Client (OCI). The 64-bit Oracle Client is supported in the advanced features of cross-connection query mode and publishing to Intelligence Central, in addition to all the other key features in Toad. See the online Help for a list of supported data types, which includes XMLType and SDO_GEOMETRY. This release includes support for IBM DB2 for LUW 10.5 and IBM DB2 for z/os 11. You can now add parameters to a SQL Server connection in the Connection Properties dialog. Toad includes the application name parameter with value "Toad Data Point" by default. 7 Query Development Editor You now have the option to disable bind variables prior to executing a SQL statement. Click in the Editor toolbar to enable/disable binding variables in the SQL. This release includes support for the Oracle replacement character "&" (ampersand). You can now easily select and execute the code within a single region of a script. In the Editor, right-click within the script region you want to execute and select Select Current Region. Then press F5 to execute the code Quest Software, Inc. 7 All Rights Reserved

8 With an Oracle or SQL Server connection, if you select the Include Actual Execution Plan option when executing SQL, in the Execution Plan window the tab now reads "Actual Plan" to indicate the actual plan is displayed. When the option is deselected, the tab reads "Estimated Plan" indicating the estimated plan is displayed. The SQL Server 2012 SQL statement CREATE SEQUENCE is now included in the Code Snippets. Query Builder As part of the default settings, cross-connection query is turned off in the Base edition of Toad Data Point. However, an enhanced and fully-optimized version of cross-connection query is available in the Professional edition. Import and Export When exporting data using the Export Wizard, you now have the option to specify a format for the data in date and number columns. 9 In the Export Wizard, on the Select Columns page, you can now re-order the columns. Click the UP or DOWN arrows to move the selected column. In the Export Wizard, you can now re-order the objects to be exported. Toad exports them in the order you specify. Click the Up or Down buttons to move the selected item. 10 General FTP Connections: The FTP tool now includes support for FTP Secure (FTPS) connections (explicit and implicit). Navigation Manager: When the Navigation Manager is set to Auto Hide, it now remains minimized when navigating between open windows, but opens when a new Query Builder, Database Browser, or ER Diagrammer window is opened.
