1 B2W Estimate What s New in B2W Estimate Overview B2W Estimate introduces many highly requested features designed to bring even more power and flexibility to your fingertips. With this release, you can create estimates using WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) levels. You can also enter bond values as dollars per thousand, rather than as a percentage. This document provides an overview of these and other new features in this release of B2W Estimate. Work Breakdown Structure Feature WBS Estimates (Available in the Enterprise Edition.) WBS Databases (Available in the Enterprise Edition.) Summations (Available in the Enterprise Edition.) Description B2W Estimate now supports three different estimate formats: Pay Item The standard, Pay Item based estimating that you ve used till now. If you don t need WBS, this is unchanged and remains exactly as you re familiar with. WBS Only For estimates where you need to breakdown the scope of work in a hierarchical fashion, be it across areas, years, work types or all of the above, WBS Only estimates will see you through. Pay Item and WBS These hybrid estimates allow you to organize your estimate the way it makes sense to you, by the scope of work breakdowns that you work in as an estimator and then apportion that cost to the Pay Items that the bid owner wants to see pricing for. You can store WBS levels in a database so that they can be used in either a Pay Item and WBS estimate or a WBS Only estimate. While you can create WBS levels directly in an estimate, by using levels from a WBS Database, you can ensure that a standard breakdown of work is available for your estimates. Calculate as a summation is now available as a method for setting a selected value. This method calculates the quantities of WBS levels and Tasks in an estimate from the rolled up quantities of the children which share the same Unit of Measure. You can also opt to exclude children from a summation. This enables you to precisely configure how quantities are calculated.

2 General Enhancements Feature PH/DY value now taken into account for crews using man hour based production rates (Available in all editions.) Bond can now be entered as dollars per thousand (Available in all editions.) New columns available (Available in all editions.) Description A new setting, Calculate crew days accounting for production hours when production method uses man hours, is available when selecting options for crews. When you select this option, you can specify a maximum number of productive hours per day, even when you are using a greater number of hours per day for costing purposes. For example, each of your laborers can accrue 10 hours of cost while achieving only 8 hours of production. You can now format the values associated within each level of your bond table as dollars per thousand rather than as a percentage. This setting can be configured independently on a per-user basis on the User Preferences page in the Options dialog box. Two columns, Truck Unit Cost Override and Override Truck Unit Cost, have been added to the Columns Manager. 2

3 Support for WBS This section shows some of the changes made to support WBS. This capability is available in B2W Estimate, Enterprise Edition. 1. Select the estimate format in the New Estimate Wizard. 2. Tab labels change depending on the type of estimate you are working with. 3. The left pane of the Estimate Details tab shows the work breakdown structure when you are working with a Pay Item and WBS or WBS-only estimate. 3

4 4. You can create and edit databases in the Item/WBS Databases area. 5. WBS databases are listed in the left pane of the Item/WBS Databases area. 6. Select Calculate as a summation to calculate the quantities of WBS Levels and Tasks in an estimate from the rolled up quantities of the children which share the same Unit of Measure. 4
