Milestne Xprtect Transact enables yu t stre a serial data stream, search the recrded data, and play it back tgether with the images recrded at the time, by any camera cnfigured in yur Milestne Xprtect Business system. This Guide will explain hw t install and use the sftware. Milestne Systems regularly releases service updates fr ur prducts, ffering new functinality, supprt fr new devices, and slutins fr issues reprted by ur custmers. T make sure yu install the mst recent versin f ur sftware, please check ur website fr updates. 2 Installing the Serial Server Milestne Transact uses a Serial Server interface device t receive the serial data stream frm a cash register, ATM, r any ther RS232 surce. In rder fr Milestne Xprtect Transact t be able t cmmunicate with the Serial Server it must be assigned an IP address. If a DHCP server is present in yur netwrk, and yu want t let it assign an IP address t the Serial Server, simply cnnect the Serial Server t yur netwrk and apply pwer. The IP address is then assigned autmatically by the DHCP server. Please prceed t the chapter Installing Xprtect Transact. If yu d nt have a DHCP server, r yu want t assign a static IP address manually, yu must first install the Serial Server cnfiguratin tl frm the CD in the kit-bx: Insert the CD in a PC cnnected t yur netwrk. If the installatin prgram des nt start up autmatically, click n Start, Run, brwse t yur CD drive and duble-click n the Install. exe file. Select the Install Utilities ptin frm the menu. Select the XAdmin32 ptin frm the menu. Click Nex t cntinue the installatin. Click Nex t accept the installatin flder. Click Nex t accept the Start Menu grup flder. 2

3 Installing the Serial Server (Cntinued) T assign an IP address manually: Cnnect the Serial Server t the netwrk and apply pwer. Start the cnfiguratin tl (named XAdmin32) frm the Start, Prgrams, XAdmin32 flder. The cnfiguratin tl will scan the netwrk fr any Serial Servers cnnected. If it des nt detect yur device, check the cnnectins and the pwer and press F4 t re-detect. The number f detected devices are listed in the lwer right crner f the cnfiguratin windw. When the device is detected, select the Devices menu and chse Setup Uncnfigured Devices. Select the MAC address fr the device yu want t cnfigure, then click Cnfigure. Type in the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway (ptinal) fr the Serial Server, then click OK. Clse the windw t return t the main menu. The Serial Server shuld nw be in the device list. The Name (hstname) f the device is used t identify the Serial Server in the Xprtect Transact setup dialg. The Serial Server is nw cnfigured and the cnfiguratin tl can be clsed. The device Name (hstname) is nrmally XCD_******, where ****** represents the last 6 digits f the device MAC address. 3

4 Installing Xprtect Transact T use Milestne Xprtect Transact yu must have the Milestne Xprtect Business versin 3.1d r later installed n yur server. The versin number can be checked by clicking n the titlebar icn in the Administratr and selecting Abut Xprtect Business. Fr details n hw t install the Milestne Xprtect Business sftware, please refer t the Milestne Xprtect Business Getting Started Guide. Bth the sftware and the manuals are available fr dwnlad frm the Supprt sectin n When clicking n the Titlebar icn in the Administratr and selecting Abut Adm, yu can type in yur Transact License Key. This will enable the Xprtect Transact supprt in yur sftware. Please refer t the chapter Retrieving the Transact License Key fr details n hw t btain the key fr yur Xprtect Transact. Befre starting the Mnitr the next time a rebt is needed t set the Windws TCP/IP timeut parameter t the required value. 4

5 Retrieving Transact License Keys T enable supprt fr Xprtect Transact in yur Xprtect Business sftware, yu must enter yur Xprtect Transact License Key. G t the Milestne website at Click n Sftware Registratin in the tp menu, then click n the License Key Request Frm link. Fill ut the frm with yur name, , Sftware License Cde (SLC) as listed n yur sftware package, and the Machine Cde as it is viewed in the Abut Adm... dialg bx. Yur request will then be prcessed as sn as pssible n the first cming business day (Cntinental Eurpean time) and yu will receive an cntaining the Transact License Key. Entering the key will enable the Xprtect Transact supprt in yur sftware. Befre starting the Mnitr the next time a rebt is needed t set the Windws TCP/IP timeut parameter t the required value. 5

6 Cnfiguring the Serial Server The Serial Server(s) need(s) t be identified and cnfigured befre the transactin data can be received and presented n the screen. In the Xprtect Business Administratr the Transact buttn has been enabled. Open the Transact dialg by clicking n the Transact buttn. The path f the transactin databases can be changed by clicking n the Brwse buttn and chse a new destinatin. Existing databases will be mved t the new lcatin. 6

7 Cnfiguring the Serial Server (cntinued) Select New t pen the device installatin dialg. Enter a name fr the Serial Server. Enter the hstname (r IP address) f the Serial Server. The device hstname is nrmally XCD_****** where ****** represents the last 6 digits f the device MAC address. Click Check t search fr the Serial Server. When the Serial Server is fund, the Feed Settings windw is enabled. If the Serial Server is nt fund, please check that an IP address has been crrectly assigned t the device and the hstname entered is crrect. Yu can check the availability f the device by pening a Cmmand Prmpt and ping it using the Hstname: 7

8 Cnfiguring the Serial Server (cntinued) In the Feed Settings windw, a Transactin Start Mask can be entered. Every time this text appears in the received data, it will be interpreted as the start f a new transactin. If n text is entered, a new transactin will be started every time a pause f 2 minutes is detected in the transmissin OR when a transactin has cntinued fr 5 minutes. A Transactin Stp Mask can als be entered. Entering a stp mask ensures that any data between a stp transactin and a start transactin mark, such as printer psitining characters, are ignred. If n stp mask is entered, a transactin stp is autmatically inserted n transactin start. Finally, the perid t keep the transactin data can be entered (in days). The default setting is 7 days. Transactin data lder than the specified perid is deleted. Click OK t return t the main Xprtect Transact setup dialg. The Transactin Start Mask and Stp Mask must start frm the start f the line, and are case sensitive. Wildcards * (ne character wildcard) and # (ne number 0-9 wildcard) can be used. The dts in the text windw can be used t cunt the number f characters (including spaces) entered. The ttal number f characters entered is displayed t the right f the text windw. 8

9 Wiring the Serial Server t the Data Surce The Serial Server can be wired t the transactin data surce (POS equipment) in ne f these ways: PLEASE MAKE SURE THE POWER TO THE SERIAL SERVER AND THE POS EQUIPMENT IS OFF BEFORE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE SERIAL CABLES! Cnnecting t a dedicated RS232 prt: Ethernet Serial Server Null mdem serial cable (marked) Cash Register RS232 Output Cnnecting t a shared RS232 prt using a data tap: Ethernet Straight serial cable (unmarked) Serial Server Null mdem serial cable (marked) Cash Register RS232 Output Optinal female gender changer Original registerprinter serial cable POS printer Any RS232 data surce can be used t feed the Serial Server. The Serial Server autmatically detects the bit rate f the surce. The Serial Server can nly be accessed frm ne IP client (such as Xprtect Business) at a time. 9

10 Using Xprtect Transact Milestne Xprtect Transact recrds the data sent t the Serial Server whenever the Mnitr is running. Open the Recrdings Viewer t review the recrded data. Click n the icn and select Transact in the menu. Click n the icn t pen the Database Infrmatin dialg. Select the upper right camera windw, then select a camera frm the Vide Feed drpdwn menu. Repeat the prcedure fr the lwer right camera windw. Click n the icn t bring up the Xprtect Transact menu. Chse the Surce tab and select a Transact data surce. If a different fnt size is required fr the transactin data, this can be selected in the Layu tab. The view can be saved fr later retrieval by selecting Add t Views in the Views menu fund in the tp menu bar. T retrieve the view at a later time, select the Views menu and click n the name yu have given the view. Open the Organize Views menu frm the Views menu t edit, delete and rganize the saved views. 10

11 Using Xprtect Transact (Cntinued) The Transact data and the recrded images are linked tgether. Clicking n a camera mnitr and navigating thrugh the navigatin keys, including the real-time play frward/ play reverse functins, r the Brwse Band, will autmatically scrll the Transactin data t match the time f the images. When navigating the Transactin data frm the Transact menu, the pictures are updated t match the time f the transactin. Use the Up and Dwn arrws t scrll ne line up r dwn. Use the Next Trans. and Prev. Trans. buttns t jump t the next/previus transactin. Typing in a Phrase will mark all ccurrences transactin strings that matches with a green dt in frnt f the line. Chse the Case Sensitive and Exact Match ptins t make yur search criteria mre precise. When Exact Match is selected, a space must be present at bth ends f the string fr it t be marked as a match. The Next Match and Prev. Match buttns will jump t the next/previus ccurrence f the entered phrase. If n criteria are entered when using the Next Match/Prev. Match buttns, the end/beginning f the transactin database will be selected. Click n the buttn t stre a phrase t the Phrase List. The Stred Phrases are stred in the Phrase drp-dwn list. T remve a search phrase frm the Stred Phrases list, select the phrase frm the list and click n the buttn. The transactin data and the selected cameras can be printed frm the Print menu. The start and stp f a transactin is defined when setting up the Serial Server. Please refer t the chapter Cnfiguring the Serial Server fr details. 11

12 Specificatins Milestne Xprtect Transact is an add-n prduct t Milestne Xprtect Business 3.1d and frward. The verall system requirements, and the supprted vide devices, are the same t thse f Milestne Xprtect Business. When calculating the system requirements, each Milestne Xprtect Transact data surce shuld be cunted as using the resurces equivalent t a single standard camera in 320x240 lw cmpressin reslutin. Xprtect Transact supprts the fllwing Serial Servers: Try SS-S8-1 Single Prt Serial Server System perfrmance might be affected if the number f transactins per day per Serial Server exceeds Additinal Infrmatin Fr maximum security, make sure that the serial cables cnnecting the data surce (cash register, ATM, etc.) t the Serial Serve r, and the Serial Server and its pwer supply, are placed s they cannt easily be tampered with. Access t the Transactin data can be restricted by using the Passwrd Prtectin facility t enable nly Administratrs the rights t pen the Recrdings Viewer (Brwser).
