1 Illinois Data Bank Metadata Documentation Version 1.0 August 4, 2016 This document details the metadata terms, properties, and vocabularies used by the Illinois Data Bank. The Metadata Documentation consists of a set of properties that is specifically designed for materials in the Illinois Data Bank. It also documents, where applicable, the mapping between the Illinois Data Bank metadata and the DataCite Metadata Schema for the Publication and Citation of Research Data version 3.1 ( Author Author An entity responsible for the creation of the resource. Occurrence 1/- <creator> Exactly one Family, exactly one Given, and exactly one are required for each Author. Contact Person Contact Person The role an author has of being the the primary contact and information provider for third parties wishing to find out more about a specific dataset. 3 Funder Funder The role held by an agent of providing funds, for example for a research project. -- <contributor contributortype= funder >[value]</contributor> Funder ID Funder ID The Open Funder Registry identifier for a Funder Open Funder Registry DOI -- Not supported in DataCite 3.1. Funder Funder of agent providing funds for a project, example a research project Controlled list or 3

6 ORCiD ORCiD Identifier for individuals to use with their name as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. ORCiD identifier <nameidentifier> Publication Delay (embargo) Publication Delay (embargo) The embargo status of all or part of the dataset. Controlled list Occurrence 0/1 -- Not supported in DataCite 3.1. The Illinois Data Bank supports publication delay periods for the files in a dataset, the metadata, or the entire dataset including files and metadata. The items under publication delay are released to the public the release date specified by the depositor. Publisher Publisher Publisher of the resource. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 6
