3 Four Clauses of a Query SELECT Describes the columns that will be included in the result set FROM The tables or views from which the query will retrieve the data WHERE Specifies the conditions that must be met for a row to be included in the result set. The first condition uses WHERE. Each successive condition uses AND. ORDER BY Specifies the sorting of the results

4 Interesting Facts Not Case Sensitive Syntax can be in upper or lower case or both and it won t matter Asterisk (*) Specifies that all columns from every view will be included

5 Query Manipulation = equality <> not being equal < less than > greater than!> not greater than!< not less than <= less than or equal >= greater than or equal to EXISTS IN NOT IN IS NULL LIKE BETWEEN tests for the existence of rows Provides an inclusive list of values for the search condition. Provides a list of values for which NOT to return rows for. whether the value is null. pattern matching (% is a wild card) Designates an inclusive range of values. Used with the AND clause between the beginning and ending values.
