1 6/4/2018 Request for Proposal Upgrade and Consolidation Storage Backup Network Shares Virtual Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Network Infrastructure Services - Server Team DC WATER & SEWER AUTHORITY (DC WATER)

2 Purpose The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to enter an agreement with a successful bidder to carry out the work of assessing DC Water s aging/existing enterprise storage architecture and provide an enterprise storage solution to satisfy listed requirements in the key areas. The proposed solution is not limited to on-premise storage and may include both on-premise and cloud (hybrid architecture). Scope The selected vendor will provide the following: Provide qualified personnel to install and migrate content from existing storage to the new storage solution(s). Detailed step-by-step upgrading, installation, and migration and integration process with current environment systems Ensure proper Installation, load testing, integration with current systems and knowledge sharing and training for system support. Must provide detailed scope of work of their professional services and deliverables. Ensure proper licensing, hardware/software warranty and after sale support to cover 24x7x365 coverage. Current Environment Storage (Two File/Block Storage Units, 5 NAS Units, Tape Library) FC Storage Unit 1-50 TB Capacity, 45 Available, 35 used. This unit hosts o VMWare vsphere 6.0 Production Datastore with over 100 VM s o VM hosting Open-Text External File System (EFS) for both Production and Test environments o VM Hosting GIS Application Cluster Data o Critical Application Servers defined in DC Water DR document are being replicated to VMWare vcloud Air Disaster Recovery Subscription o Commvault Snap backup jobs create snapshots for Full Backups on Friday and Differential Backups from Saturday to Thursday FC Storage Unit TB Capacity, 105 Available, 85 TB used. This unit hosts o VMWare Test/Development environment Datastores o File Server and DFS Cluster Volumes o Oracle RAC server volumes o Microsoft SQL Server Volumes o SharePoint Blob Storage (this is being Migrated to SharePoint Online) o Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases are being replicated to VM s provisioned on VMWare vcloud Air Dedicated Cloud environment using DataGuard and Arcserve Replication in HA/AR mode products respectively o Two VM s in Dedicated Cloud to replicate EFS and GIS VM file data volumes using Arcserve File Replication in HA mode NAS Unit 1

3 Challenges o Backup to Disk Volume to Backup Oracle Databases using Commvault Storage Policy NAS Unit 2 o Backup to Disk Volume to Backup Microsoft SQL Database using Commvault Storage Policy NAS Unit 3 and 4 o Backup to Disk Volume to backup File Server Cluster hosted DFS and Network Shares Data using Commvault Storage Policy o Backup to Disk Volume to backup VMWare Development/Test Volumes with twoweek retention only (no copies on tape) NAS Unit 5 o Backup to Disk Volume to backup VMWare Production Volumes using Commvault Storage Policy Tape Library o Commvault performs Production VMWare Snapshot backups on Storage unit 1 and then Primary copy is run by mounting the snapshot to the proxy (media agent) and performs Backup to disk on to NAS Unit 5 o Three Auxiliary copies are run against the Primary Job data on B2D volume on NAS unit 5 to backup on to Tape (with one-month retention), another AUX copy for weekly backups with one-year retention and third copy with ten-year retention. These tapes are sent to offsite storage for long term recovery o For File Server, Oracle and MS-SQL data, backup is directly performed to NAS Units 1 through 4 and then three AUX copies will write data to tapes using the same procedure mentioned above Managing multiple NAS units Storage Unit 1 filling up with Commvault Snapshots as the Primary backup jobs are not completing as it is not getting enough through-put while Aux Copies are running which is also causing the NAS unit to fill up. Periodically excluding one cycle of VMWare backup jobs to free up space on Unit 1 No DR available to File Server Network Shares No Data Archiving in place No De-Duplication in place No report for identifying Data for Archiving Requirements Review current environment and propose a storage solution to meet the below criteria. Storage General Purpose Disk Arrays (Hybrid or All Flash) Simplified Management with Seamless Upgrades Provide ease of migration with future upgrades Simplified Maintenance Support for both File and Block Storage (can be separate)

4 15K SAS or better drives with IOPS > 20,000 Easily Scalable De-Duplication and Compression 150 to 200 TB of Storage (approximately) File System Support for below File and Block storage VMWare vsphere 6.0 and above VDI Compatible for future use Hyper-V DFS, Network Shares, Open-Text External File System (EFS), GIS Data Oracle Databases Microsoft SQL Server Databases Data Progression and Archiving with Stubbing Backup to Disk Volumes SEIM Volumes for SYSLOGS Volumes to Store and retrieve Surveillance data Volumes to Store and Retrieve Autodesk Design Data Security Encryption at Rest Support File Level Encryption at source Backups Commvault Integration for Snap-Backups Primary Backup to Disks Long Term backups to Virtual Tape Libraries to meet DC Water retention policies (weekly backups with 1-year retention and monthly backups with 10-year retention) Connectivity Fiber Channel 8 GB and above iscsi Support 10/40 GB Network Connections Disaster Recovery Solution for easy failover and fail back in case of DR No or Automated re-ip for virtual machine systems for recovery Archived data or stubs should be accessible (if required) Support currently used products (Bit-Locker, PGP Encryption ) Services Migrate current DFS, File shares on Microsoft Cluster and present as CIFS shares to move away from traditional clustering retaining current group and individual permissions Archive data before or after the migration that is greater than 5 years old with stubs in place for retrieval
