Excel files import all worksheets and all data, so it is best to remove unwanted worksheets and data before importing. Method 1 for existing tables 1] Set all Custom Rules and Shades to From Table and apply Method 2 for imported tables On-Screen Table Tints (FrameMaker 12 and older) Import Word files as Plain Text (to bypass new Word import dialog) 2] Set Row Height defaults (0" to 14") 3] Apply Paragraph style(s) to table 4] Apply Table style to table 5] Merge cells as needed 1] Open Excel file save as tab-delimited or csv text 2] Import into FrameMaker as Text 3] Choose "Convert Text to Table" 4] Select delimiter (tab or comma) and Table style 5] Import For better on-screen editing appearance, use new color or tint, not the percentage from Table Designer. For example, don't use Black at 10%; create a new color set to 10% K and use that new color at 100%. Either method will not affect print or PDF output. 1] Open Word file, select all, and copy 2] Paste Special in FrameMaker 3] Choose "Text" and paste

6 Editing Objects Scaling Graphics Generally, use Object Properties rather than Scale. Object Properties shows actual reduction since import. Scale always treats whatever the current size as 100%.
